I've got my test a week on friday, and as ive mentions on here ive been looking at Hornet 600's. I'm 18 and will have 1yncb when i change bike.
A few people have sugested that i look at a 400cc bike rarter than a 600 one for initial cost and insurance.
Would buying a 400 be a good idea, and what sort of things bikes are there which are sutable for someone who's over 6feet tall? :) Thanks
J

a 400 will do you fine, the only one you'd really be too big for is the NC30. a ZXR400, CBR400 or VFR400 NC24 would be big enough.

i'm 5'11 and fit the NC24 fine, could do with being taller so i could sit more upright, so you should be fine on one at a bit over 6 foot.

An unfaired 600 would be better imo, also consider the sv650.

They're similar power, but make it in a more friendly way, they also should be more accomadting for taller riders. Insurnce should be similar.

hi
for once i agree with G on this a Hornet aint a bad idea SV would be good too quite tourqey but cheep to insure, if u were smaller id prolly say a 400 but cause of your size the SV sounds like agood, choice, test ride/sit on a few and see what ya like

Thanks for the sugestions. I hadnt realy looked at the Sv650, or any V-twin bikes. What affect does the V have? and will i notice anything from only having two cylinders as i have to have it limited to 33bhp for two years anyway?

A twin will have gobs more grunt spread through the whole rev range, as opposed to inline four engines which have most of the power up in the top few thousand revs.

The restriction won't have a much effect on a V twin because the torque will still be there for you to use. But nearly everybody chucks their restrictors within a few months anyway...

And then there's the V twin sound. Come to the dark side, you know it makes sense Cool
