I've got a 2001 Suzuki VL 125 Intruder with 6600 miles on the clock. I've had it for 2 months now and it's began playing up...When it's a cold day and i'm starting the bike up, as usual, I will have the choke on for a while, but recently, even after having the choke on, I will take the bike for a ride to warm it up and it drives fine then but when i for example stop at a junction and go into 1st gear, you can hear the engine cutting out and then dying...Now im not a professional mechanic but I know the basics, and from my diagnosis, it's not the battery as all the electrics work fine, the spark plugs looked fine when I checked them, it aint the carburettor because when im riding, it is fine and speeds along as usual, so the only thing I can think it is, is the air filter, because when I stop at a junction, air is not being sucked in fully as it's just idling so a blocked air filter restricts the air flow which in turn kills the engine.....am i right or wrong?!?!?! |

I would start by checking the throttle balance, and if that is ok simply turn-up the idle a little. The air filter could well be due for a change at that mileage. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

i doubt very much the air filter will be the problem. more like carb icing, too low idle or a blocked idle jet ____________________ ZX636C6F road. ZX636C1H track. ZX7R redundant. ZX0.5R minimoto as ornament.
