Okay folks... the joy of triumph ownership is biting me in the arse again!
I have two major problems with the bike, firstly as the thread title suggests, she's being starved of fuel. When the fuel tap is on prime (gravity feed) she starts and runs ok. Once the tap is turned onto either "on" or "reserve" (vacuum), she runs for a bit and then dies. She basically uses what fuel is in the lines and then doesn't get any more. I've checked the fuel lines are connected, and that the tap works correctly but still the problem persists. I did have the fuel tank off yesterday to change the spark plugs (all three were in decent condition and were a loverly brownish colour), I took her our for a blast yesterday and there was no fuel problem then, it's only happened overnight!
The second problem is a strange one. When I'm riding along, The bike will intermittantly lose all power and run very rough, almost like the timing is out. At the same time, the rev counter goes mental (swings wildly from side to side and frequently drops off the bottom). There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when it occurs. It's happened under gentle and harsh acceleration, when cruising at low revs/low speed, when blasting at high revs/high speed... it's not limited to either hot or cold engine temp. The only things I can think of are either a broken cable inside it's sheath or else it's the igniter, as thats the only component that controls both ignition timing and rev counter. Plugs and leads are both sound so it's not that... and the fuses are all fine!
The second problem is not linked to the first as the power loss occured before the fuel problem. The fuel problem only surfaced after I took the tank off the sort the plugs out to try and solve the power problem .
Any opinions appreciated and any help will be rewarded with a healthy dose from the dispenser!

Given the fact that the problem is so easily rectified by changing the fuel feed, I'm a bit reluctant to start dismantling carbs! But a carb problem had crossed my mind to begin with, I will check them over if it's not something more straightforward!

Ignition problem - spot on, most likely a loose or broken connection. Good luck finding it if it's intermittent!
Does it ever start misfiring when it's stationary (i.e. in neutral)?

The vacuum line is definately still connected, so it's a tank off inspection job for kinks/squashes! oh the joys!
As for the electrics, I've checked all the relevant connections and earths. Looks like I'll have to get a continuity tester and spend ours with an assistant wiggling wires! And it does occasionally misfire at idle. It usually starts whilst the bike is in motion but continues when stopped and idling. It's quite interesting when riding at 40 in second with the throttle open trying to keep her moving, only to have the all the power come back and be doing 80 in a matter of seconds!!!
Cheers folks!
