Hi,

Have tyre prices shot up recently?

About three months ago I was looking for new (decent brand) trail tyres and were getting prices of £36 for Dunlop K550 (410-18) and £26 for Pirelli MT40 (275-21).

Now the same tyres are £52 and £37 respectively!

Is it that tyre prices have generally shot up in the last three months or did I just find some bargains that have now sold out?

Thanks for any replies.

Tyre prices have gone up a bit I've noticed a BT45 was £53 , its now £61....

Probably because BT45s are made in Japan and the UK£ is tanking against every currency on the planet even Pakistan rupees.

I was thinking of changing the tyres on my cb250rs for something a bit better than the cheng shin hi-maxs that I bought the bike with. After checking some prices out I have decided that there really is nothing wrong with the cheng shins' and, as I'm not going to be using the bike that much between now and selling it next April, I'm suddenly thinking of other things to spend my money on.

Other things, it turns out, were two new tyres for the BMW! Anyway...I know a chap who works at a tyre fitters in the town where I deliver post and, as I'm always doing him favours when I'm on that round (picking up letters/parcels/returns etc from the tyre depot to save him having to trek up to the P.O to post them) he returned said favours and did me two Falken 205/60x15's that should've been £115 for £95 Thumbs Up

BCT motorcycles - just google it. It's always best to ring them up also because the prices differ between the shop and the online shop!

Cheapest place I've found... thanks to someone on here a while ago...

They send them out next day delivery too.

You want Strathearn Tyres in Creiff mate, 01764655904

Jim Allen in Falkirk can be good for tyres although the service is a little on the 50/50 great/shite side of things.

Saltire Suzuki in Edinburgh are doing good deals on tyres at the mo', see UrbanRacer's thread in the Scotland section for more info.

Cost me £115 to get a new rear hoop fitted to the S4 the other week. Daylight robbery! No chances of scrubbing the edges in properly on my normal motorway trundle to work either Neutral

Thanks for the recommendation. They were slightly more expensive than another place that I found (IntoBikes) but I will bookmark them for next time.

I've bookmarked that for next time, no idea if they're cheaper for my bt021s. Cheers though!

tyre prices change on a monthly basis,it all depends on what is most popular at the time and which are in over supply,so if you find what you like at a low price buy a couple of sets.....next time they may have gone up,then again they may have come down....thats the gamble.

Blame him

Sterling's at an all time low against most currencies.

He may have cut VAT, but there's no way you can now go on holiday or buy things from abroad.

Just noticed sausages going up 15p last week, they're from Ireland so its Euro.

Wine, most decent largers everything is going to go up.

On the plus side, it might be good for the British economy as foreigners will spend more here as its cheaper. Plus no one will go on holiday abroad, so more people will spend money here.

I was planning a week or 2 in Lanzarote in March, no chance i'm going now i'm not going and paying a 1/3rd more for everything I just won't do it.
