When i pass my A2 and finally get a bigger bike i'm thinking of starting a project on the CG! Now i've seen people cafe racer them and i know the one that virus had was ratted then chopped up by beatnck2. But i havn't seen anyone try anything different!
I want to see how high i can get the indicated top speed on it. Is it actually possible?
Had a few ideas such as stripping as much weight off of it, different sprockets etc. But also other stuff like them iridium spark plugs that some people think do something and some people don't. Also seen 'performance' air filters and exhausts which claim to improve performance!
Or am i just going to waste money by falling for scams?
Cheers, Sam
Thanks in advance for posts such as it will be faster riding it off a cliff or being towed by a lambo etc |

You can waste money if your not careful.
First thing to do is check out the Improving Performance page on the Honda CG125 website.
https://hondacg125.awardspace.com/
After you have done all the things it mentions.
You could change the sprocket to get more top speed.
I would not bother reducing weight unless you want to go up hill as fast as possible.
Forget the exhaust and air filter.
If you want to boost engine power, bore out the engine and put a larger piston in.
If you want to go nuts get a nitrous oxide kit.
Some one did put a nitrous oxide kit on a CG back in the 90s.
It cost a fortune and resulted in around 80mph if I remember correctly.
He did say the bike did not handle very well at those speeds.
I read it in Used Bike Guide magazine and it was on a race track. |
