Well I dont drive a car and never had any expirience on a bike and I am pleased to have completed my CBT, it was great, although steep learning curve :O) We went for a 2 hour ride through traffic and beforehand I had only an hour to learn to gears etc. Superb fun.

I cannot wait to get a bike now, I was gonna get an NSR but want a four strike I may wait for CBR125 or buy a Honda Varadero, can get one for £2999 OTR or I may get a Gilera Cougar @ £1999 OTR.

Im over 25 so I plan to ride on the CBT with a 125 for a year or so and take me test. For now.....I'm happy that I enjoyed it so much and feel competent and confident albeit with much expirience to get.

Well done Smile

Out of interest, what makes you want a 4 stroke 125 over a 2 stroke one Question

Well 4 strokers are smoother and lower maintainence. I am swaying towards the Honda Varadero @ 2999 on the road with AA cover, imobilizer and and the usual Honda things. It's £500 cheaper than I expected Smile Has anyone ridden one as I am told they are BIG and im 5.8/9

You're over 25? Do your DAS.

Trust me, the bigger bikes feel soo much nicer than the smaller ones - rather than pootle around on an underpowered 125cc commuter bike you could pootle around on a nice 500cc commuter bike instead.

I personally think that if I had chosen to get a ‘small’ bike or stick with 125’s then I would have desired something more pretty quickly. I would recommend a direct entry test to anyone but would recommend no more than a 600cc (and reasonable BHP) as a first bike.

I am however itching to get something bigger already but I don’t think that would have happened so quickly if I had not needed to ride the Hippys v-raptor so much recently. I do however have that cursed loyalty and attachment character flaw and cant imagine selling the raptor Crying or Very sad

Hmmmm. You would think wouldn't you. But I'm thinking of sticking to a 125 for a coule of years myself despite being over 25. I may actually just sit the 125 test just to make sure I stick to it. I don't fully trust myself yet Rolling Eyes

ZX6R accelerating or going damn fast isn't scarey as such before, but its still mad as anything!

I was utterly convinced that that was what I was going to do until I got on the bigger bike. I am however sure that I do not take either of the bikes anywhere near the limit and I guess that means that my self control and caution is good Laughing

Or it could be your too scared Laughing

But I definately think I'll keep the NSR for a couple of years anyway, if anything for financial reasons. Confused

I've had the NSR for about 2 1/2 months now and I'm still happy plodding about on it, and it's still not derestricted yet. I'm sure I will get bored sooner rather than later though.

Dont believe it. They require more frequent oil changes than 2 strokes generally, need valves adjusting and oil filters changing. Only thing they dont need is 2 stroke oil adding.

As to being smoother, no really. And a 2 stroke of the same engine capacity will (unless restricted) have about 50% more power

Sorry, I am not keen on small 4 strokes at all

All the best

Congrats mate, but seriously consider getting your license rather than thinking that you'll be happy on a 125 for a while. A bigger Varadero will be easier to ride generally, as well as being more comfortable.

Just 'cos you have an unrestricted license doesn't mean that you *have* to go out and buy a big fast bike, but it does mean that you have the flexibility to go out and get a big fast bike when you get bored of a slower one Razz (and not worry about restrictors etc).

I don't have to, but I would. I'm trying to utilize my sensible side here Smile and it's not easy I can tell you. There's a power struggle going on in my head all the time Rolling Eyes

Well it’s good to see someone taking things at sensible pace they are happy with. I don’t think you will be on a 125 for long though Very Happy
