HELP need your thoughts on best 125cc out there.

hi i am going to buy a 125cc soon i want to know what people think is the best choice i am not fussy i will go for a cruiser or a sports bike i dont like trial bike or mud bike e.t.c

please tell me what you think.

i was looking a a custom cruiser a kinroad xt 125cc gy model what do you people think it seems too cheap a £699.00 i just dont want to get take for a fool .

The search button is your friend and you will find loads of threads with a wealth of info.

Rule of thumb though: chinese - Run, run as fast as you can and don't look back.

Jap bikes are ok Honda CG good solid bike for getting experience and really cheap. NSR sporty little number not so good fuel wise and expensive if you bin it.

I love my YBR, it's not super quick, it'll cruise at 65 all day long and 75 on a calm day, but i get 115mpg all the time, nice and nippy round towns, doesn't sound like a whiney 2 stroke (it's 4 stroke) and looks good too. very comfortable even doing 50miles a day on it.

Just go for whatever you can find. The honda CG is rated as the best of all 125ers because they're reliable and easy/cheap to run and maintain, parts are easy to find.

Any 125 bike will do. As long as you don't find a bike that's hiding a lifes worth of neglect. That is where it starts unexpectedly breaking down and being unreliable. Even a CG could be unreliable in that sense.

As cheap bikes go, I'm kind of fond of the Suzuki GS125, these seem to sell really cheap as they're less known then the honda CG. Myself, I like them because they have a bikini fairing at the front, rev meter (cg doesn't have one), and a gear select indicator (cg doesn't have one).

If your thinking of a 125 style cruiser, forget that chinese rubbish and get something this instead....

If you can, I'd definitely recommend doing your test.

If you're stuck on the idea of a 125; I'd go for an NSR or similar medium-tuned 2 stroke. Enough power not to feel stressed on dual carrigeways, yet still reliable and easy to ride.

CG125, buy one for 3 - 400 quid and ride it, change the oil and sell it 12 months later for the same money. Do not buy Chinese.

There are two scenarios:

1) If you're totally new to riding, don't care about looking super-cool and need experience before passing your A2 or DAS, then get a CG125. Cheap, easy and a good ride imo.

2) If you don't care about passing for the foreseeable future, you're not a new rider and you have more money than sense, then get an Aprilia RS125 or a Cagiva Mito.

At the moment part of me really wants a dead AR125 to restore!

But if i could have any 125cc sportsbike in stunning condition, then it would have to be either a Gilera GFR125 or a Yamaha TZR125R (Japanese not Italian though).

Id also probably choose a Suzuki RG125FUN or NSR125 Urban Tiger, over an RS125 etc, as in the right colours they look great and are in reality just as fast to within the last 5-8mph of each other.
