hey there.

i ride a cruiser (yamaha virago 535)

one main thing i'd like to ask you guys.

hands get pretty cold, and if i'm honest, i wouldn't be happy with just gloves on.... why should i suffer the cold, just to enjoy riding a bike, while car drivers cruise by in climate controlled boxes of warmth?

heated grips sound like a good idea, and it's fairly obvious =).

different kinds of gloves are a good way to keep warm, but again, fairly obvious.

wind deflectors or handguards is what i want! they solve the problem of windchill almost entirely..... BUT where in all of the cosmos can i pick up some CHROME wind deflectors?

all i can find is motocross wind deflectors. they won't do. chrome is the way forward.

What you have found are not wind deflectors; you have found bash guards, which stop you hitting your hands or levers on any trees or similar hazards that may be in your path.

They do keep your hands a little warmer, but not a massive amount.

If you want to keep your hands properly warm, you need some 'muffs':

As they're flexible, (thankfully Smile ) not sure you'd get them in chrome.

ah yes... the muffs are a good idea =).

however, there *are* wind deflectors on the market, and after reading various forum posts from similar websites to this one, they seem to be a good solid bet, as they prevent windchill to your hands, and also offer reasonable wind-prevention for your forearms as well.

plus, while riding a big cruiser, they'd probably look a bit better as well.

in all honesty, i'd give the muffs a go, but i'd be happier finding some nice matching chrome wind deflectors to go with the heated grips and winter gloves.

the question still stands =). anyone know of a brand which makes them?

clear is nearly as good as chrome:

Otherwise get some existing ones plated:

https://www.customchrome.co.uk/

It is possible to chrome plastics if you can't find any metal ones to plate, not sure whether those guys do it though.

wow! there we go, that's exactly the kind of thing i was looking for.

it's not a silly angular shape, and it's not neon green or orange =).

perfectly tasteful, and functional with it.

thanks!

Well, those look like they'd be very simple to make; but not sure they'd help that much in the UK.
I presume they're more for stopping wind-blast when not wearing gloves at all.

I use:

1 of woollen gloves

1 pair of biking gloves

1 pair of muffs in biting cold weather

Works for me and I do 10 miles to work and 10 miles back.

Right clicking on my pic and doing 'properties' shows the domain of the URL to be https://www.motorbike-crazy.co.uk; so I'd try there Smile.
