What do those of you who have listened to the album think?

The first time I heard the album I thought Kanye had lost the plot. Every track is now full of voice-distortion and the use of the rather 'old skool' Roland 808, so much so the analogy of a child obsessed with a new toy came to mind when listening to it.

The album takes a far darker tone than any of his previous work, of the 12 tracks eleven are about his split from his was-to-be wife and the finale was dedicated to his mother who recently passed away.

After listening to it the first time through I thought it was poor by any standards but every time I listen to the album it just seems to get better and better. Every song is at least very good & 'Welcome to heartbreak', 'Amazing', 'See you in my nightmares' and 'Bad news' are now exceptional in my mind.

What I find particularly interesting is that this 'rap' (if you can call it that) album isn't about shiny new wheels and over-priced jewelry, instead it seems to be an emotional set of tracks created by a man who's been stripped of the two people he seemed to care about the most in his life.

Personally it's become my faviroute Kanye album, as catchy as tracks like 'Diamonds from Sierra Leone' & 'Gold-digger' I really think he's stepped it up in this album which seems far more honest and raw.

I hate it because he has jumped upon the voice changing sythensized garbage bandwagon.
