Balancing your carbs/throttle bodies is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to make your bike run better. It doesn't necessarily affect the performance but it makes the bike a lot smoother. V-twins are the worst for it in my opinion and triples are second worst. Inline 4 Bandit 600's vibrate like buggery at certain points in the rev range and carb balancing can sort that out.
Basically when a set of carbs are out of balance the different cylinders are getting differing amounts of throttle which makes them 'fight against each other' so to speak. This is what causes the roughness of an unbalanced engine.
If you have the time and equipment I highly recommend balancing your carbs/throttle bodies. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |
