New to this forum Very Happy

This is my 600rr. Just about finished sorting it out for doing a few more trackdays in 2009, theres the odd bits and bobs I need to finish like securing the front brake lines to the mudguard and giving it a damn good clean as its dusty as hell at the moment.

This will be the first bike I have got round to fitting crash bungs to......are R&G's best for a 600rr? you hear so many different opinions and horror stories you never know what to believe.

It used to look like this at its last outing at rockingham,

But after a slight trip into the gravel, then nearly highsiding in one afternoon session at rockingham I decided I didnt want to wreck my road fairing so bought some more and spent a while sorting them out and finished by spraying them Satin Black. Its not 100% perfect but it serves a purpose.

Looks like somebody has crashed it and done a crappy paint job...Oh wait, you have Wink

I think some white stickers and then a few coats of lacquer would make it look a million times better. At the moment, it's awful Sick

It was done on the cheap, that was the point of it Laughing

I didnt want to spend a fortune spraying a spare set of fairings that will only ever see the light of day for the track. I just wanted them to be easy to touch up and be practical. The light makes it look abit funny as the sun was really low and bright.

The wheels are stupidly dusty (infact the whole bike is Sad) as the dust sheet I put over the bike whilst sanding the laquer off the fairings didnt quite work as planned.

If you're doing lots of track work you're probably better off with armoured casings rather than bungs. When the bike hits the kerbs it's bend the bungs and flip the bike, or rip the bungs out.

from crash pics, i noticed bungs aren't really that great. the fairing usually does get fucked up and the bungs seem to snap off on most cases. waste of 70 odd quid but i wouldn't know

If your crashing badly enough to bend the bungs, fairing damage is far better than engine damage. The idea of bungs is to stop you sliding the bike down the road/track on its engine casings - becuase if you do, it gets expensive VERY quickly.

Fairings might not be the cheapest thing, but they are alot more easily replaced.

If you could afford it, best way to do it is like he has, get a second purely track day fairing set. That way if you do bin it, the bill will be less..........hopefully....
