I passed my A2 this afternoon! Yippee. Second shot, 7 minors (ooops!) with no lessons.
my first failure:
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=2023985&highlight=#2023985
I thought I'd failed, and was just despondently waiting the examiner to say "fail" - but then he said "it's a pass". I was like, "what? a pass?" I thought I'd screwed up the controlled stop, worst stop I've done all week, but he only gave me a minor for it, and other things I thought I'd fucked up, including being in the wrong lane at a roundabout in heavy traffic at the start of the test, I was sure I'd fucked up and cut a car up - obviously not!
The weather was also an arse today. I phoned up hour before the test, and he said it was likely to be cancelled (fog). It cleared though, just long enough for the test - it's fog as thick as fuck right now! I went out early morning for some practise, but gave up - I couldn't see further than 50 metres. Yet it cleared for the test! Fantastic!
I feel happy.
I also feel, though, glad to be able to put it all behind me - I have so many prints outs from bcf, a few library books, etc, it's good to put all that aside and to no longer have to OBSESS over lifesavers etc.
Just like to thank all those who have responded to my posts - too many to name. It helped a lot to be able to ask a question on here if I was unsure about anything. Cheers guys.
I'm in my mid twenties, and happy with the a2 (would've done DAS if I wasn't) but now I have the business of finding a suitable bike!!! ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.
I've made mistakes in the past, and I apologise for FUCK ALL.

Well done! This is no time to become complacent however, as we never stop learning. I bet it felt awesome ripping the L plates off! ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |

Hi Neil,
I have to admit, since passing, I've kinda been riding like an idiot. I'm just getting it out of my system, really, after what seems like ages of super-alert riding in prep for the test. It's nice to be approaching junctions and not having to mentally recall the Haynes Learn to Ride manual in an instant.
I actually prefer riding "sensibly" though. I don't see lifesavers, OSM, etc, as a burden, but as something that adds to the experience of riding. I find it dull to just ride along, staring straight ahead, no attention paid to anything but opening the throttle as quickly as possible and overtaking everything in sight. That's not my style, really. I actually take a certain pride in being a "alert and observant" road user, especially given all the idiots on the road who don't know a right from a left indicator.
I'm quite a cautious (boring!!!) rider really. I'm too old, and aware of the dangers of riding, to be otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be on the track breaking the double ton, but I'm also happy to poodle along at 40 in my hi viz....
I really want to look toward doing some touring, etc! That's what biking is about!! ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.
