Well I must add this..... it does seem to me that I rant quite a bit on this site but it's only due to the shocking behavior that I see.

On the way round to a friends pub the other day I was about 10 mins away when there ways a HUGE traffic jam when this road tends to be good. The traffic was at a stand still and it was obvious that the cars had been stuck for some time. Well just making my way past and OMG I have never gone passed so many drivers that just hate the fact that I can just get on with my journey..... Ok Ok I understand that it's annoying sitting in traffic but why would you move your car out to block the path of a biker or when a bike is filtering past and comes to a stop behind a car just start going mad on your horn because you cant get past in the opposite lane when the biker is not in your way at all he is not even on your side of the white lines...

I'm just about to leave the house now in rush hour and I bet i'll be posting under this about this journey.

Drive safe, there is a lot of r-tards out there... Karma

Reminds me of a commute in London one time. I was following a bike cop and a car up ahead deliberately closed the gap between him and the car next to him to stop bikes filtering between the two lanes.

The bike cop put on his lights waited for some of the traffic to part, then stopped next to him, knocked on his window, and gave him a right bollocking. Very Happy

It's probably happened to all of us.

I filtered to the front of a line of about 20 cars with my dad and an old codger in a Rover beeped his horn and started ranting in his car, I waved him a 'V' and rode off.

people who do this are absolute idiots

no doubt they would get a good telling off from mr Police if they saw it.

if he wants to move out into your way, then it wont be your fault if his wing mirror detaches itself from the side of his car Twisted Evil

Really annoys me when people do this. On my way to college the other week someone closed the gap and then wouldn't move forward as the car in the right hand lane was quite far over so I would have got through. When he did finally move he got a bit of 16,000rpm rev limiter through his open window.

I'm beginning to not like it aswell. I can understand if your stationary. But if your moving slowly in traffic, why can't you just move aside to let a biker past. It's not going to affect how quicker your going to get home. When I'm in my car I only block other cars. I don't like other cars getting infront of me. But when it comes to bikes, I let them through as they never affect me.
If I'm in the car and in traffic, the only time I will drive next to the white line/narrow the gap is if I want to pop my head around the car in front. THen I just go back as far as I can to the left so bikes can happily filter.

It's kind of an unwritten rule really isn't it. Car drivers sit in there car, in traffic, bikers sacrifice the warmth, protection of a car in favour of beating able to filter/beat the traffic jams

i was sat in the passenger seat of a customers car one day (traffic queue) when a bike filtered past, the woman driving then started in a massive whinge/whine about how he was breaking the law ...

i corrected her ...

she then said it should be made illegal then ...

i asked why ..

she said that she has to wait her turn, so he should have to queue as well...

i asked her if he had affected the time her journey would take ...

she said err um no ...

i asked her what the problem was then ...

she came out with the bollox that she has to queue so he should as well ...

i then asked her why she drove and if she enjoyed driving ...

she said it was a necessity to take her daughter to college and no she didn't enjoy driving ....

i then explained that being as her daughter was old enough to go to college and she didn't enjoy driving then the daughter ought to be catching the bus and she ought to hand her driving licence back in ...

i finished off by telling her i enjoy driving anything with wheels and an engine plus i also ride for pleasure, the guy that had passed us had probably just finished work and potentially had an hours journey in front of him, then i asked her to estimate how long that journey would take if he sat in traffic in a car rather than filter on the bike, then explained that he was possibly using the bike so that he could be home in reasonable time so that he could see his kids before they were packed off to bed ....

after all that she still couldn't see anything fair or sensible in him being able to filter and still thought it should be illegal ...

some drivers are way too dumb/ignorant to educate Shocked

I have friends who have whinged about this but I just point out the dangers of sitting at the back of a cue of traffic on a bike.
I think we've all seen someone get rear ended in a car when cued at some point or another.

I simply ask them to imagine what they think would possibly happen to ME if I was cleaned up by a car not paying attention.
Since I make it a bit personal using the assumption that they like me Very Happy and wouldn't like to see me as a hood ornament they tend to see it as sense.

Or as mentioned above I ask them how it affects them and point out their obvious selfish natured comments...or tell em to get fucked.

The ones that really shit me are the ones who sook about me taking up a car park with my bike when they have driven their car and are the only ones in it.
If you want to talk about wasted resources let's start there shall we ?

Anyone can make sense from anything if it benefits them ...shit look at religion Thumbs Up

I've never had this this problem, about 50/50 move over for me or just stay where they are.

This is in various towns/cities too.

I'm convinced it's because I'm not some bulky 6 foot bloke. Very odd. Confused

At this point, you should ask, what about the pedestrians walking along the pavement, should they have to queue as well? Confused

What the idiots don't realise that a bike queuing in traffic with them is one more vehicle in the line, adding time to their journey. We don't cause or contribute to congestion by filtering. Rolling Eyes

We do, just less so than a car. Plenty of places where a bike will take up as much road space / time as a car, just that a bike can often get to the front of a queue and accelerate away.

There are places where I rarely filter, not because of a lack of space to do it but because all I would be doing is jumping a queue and getting in the way of those who have been queing. For example a particular T junction where 95% of the traffic is turning left with heavy traffic on the road you are turning onto. Sure you can filter to the front but the only way you can get out is to be in the way of a car that wants to get out.

All the best

Keith

I'd say I get more people pulling over to let me past than people stopping me.

I either just let them get on with it and try get past another way. Or just wait for them to pull forward giving me a gap to filter.

I can see why they are pissed, about bikes doing it but they should get over themselves and let us get on with it.

This is a daily occurrence for me on the M27. Yesterday was a Toyota Avensis who would NOT let me by. In the end I popped over to the gap between lanes 1 and 2 and then popped back across, once by, to tell him, with hand signals, that I believed that his orgasms took place in solitude.

This morning was a chav in a Corsa, you get used to it eventually.

Cheers

Hi

Happens to be occasionally, but pretty rare. Filtering down the M6 towards Brum I will get dozens of cars that will move over to give me more room, but probably only one every dozen journeys who tries to block the way. Might get a few who are too dozy to notice but they are not actively blocking the way.

All the best

Keith

i live locally to the M6 Spaghetti junction, i find most car drivers are courteous round here and on the M/way locally, traffic is solid and the majority that are using thier mirrors make an effort to let me thru...

i always try to respond with a "thankyou" wave (i look like a windmill on the M6 at times)

I always acknowledge other drivers, if they move over or wave me past. Same if people flash their lights to let you pull out etc. Always give them a wave, or a thumbs up.

If someone does someting stupid, or deliberatly tries to fuck me up, i'm damn well going to let them know about it. Usually give them the middle finger.

Learn to drive...it ain't difficult and it's much better than risking your life, freezing and getting soaked in the winter.

Some man in a stupid big jeep shouted at me one day for filtering. I was in bad temper as it was hot and I was sweating and gave him a telling off. He wouldnt take off at the lights until I moved first and lingered well behind me. Laughing
