I've got some kind of spyware/virus on my laptop, neither my symantec or adaware se will find it though.

Whenever I search through google, it sends me to a load of websites that are like compare websites, with the title name of what I search for.
It's pissing me right off now.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers
Pyro

I've had that before, and it was most annoying, its some kind of spyware/adware shite.

I formatted the PC soon after, as none of my virus/ad programs at the time could find it.

lucky you pyro!! I got one a week or so ago and it took out all the previous restore points. AVG did flag it up a few times (only really used ad aware and AVG free for the last few years with no issues at all) but it also seemed to get the better of avg as after trying to remove/vault it..it was still there but avg was not booting it or even flaging it up. book marks worked fine but whenever i clicked on a link from a google search or whatever it sent me off to the usual compare sites etc..and eventually after trying for about a week managed to hijack my home page!!! ARGH

I tried the link from Godzgift...Ta mate worked a treat and Free! It found the same named files straight away and hey presto links work again and home page back to normal. I had got to the point of thinking...Format and start again but so far so good!!

You get a big thumbs up from me for that one!! Thumbs Up

Never had to format anyone's computer to get rid of a virus yet, nor have I had to pay to get rid of them. There is $hit loads of free good programs that will do it without having to resort to a destructive format.
