Hey guys,

My RR-5 Blade's alternator just gave up on me, leaving me 30 miles from home. Luckily I have only just bought the bike and have it covered by the shop's warrentee.

Apparently, the factory winding of the alternator is pretty poor, and it is somewhat common for them to go, has anyone else had this problem?
Mine is being changed for an aftermarket wound unit, supposed to be bulletproof.......

Symptoms were: loosing rev counter and all digital read-outs, having to charge and re-charge the battery for a few weeks (i thought it was the cold weather) then the engine cutting out, not to re-start.

i know rectifiers were a common thing to go, would not be surprised by alternaters as well, apart from that bullet proof imo, i am a blade owner

Update:

Picked the bike back up again today with the new alternator all fixed.
I have to hand it to the shop, they did it with no trouble or hassle whatsoever.

Motorbiking in Christchurch gets a BIG Thumbs Up from me.
