For value, Conti road attacks are cheap, as are the maxxis ones. Personally, i'd go and spend a little extra and get the Dunlop roadsmart or pilot road 2. Dual compound tyres with a lot of grip and feedback. Easily the best mod i've done to my bike - getting tyres that suit your riding style and match the handling of the bike - they're very stable and grippy in the wet and don't take a long time to warm up - Dunlop roadsmarts would be perfect for your bike.

Whilst Titz bigs up his roadsmarts, I will big up the Conti Road Attacks, no problems with the set I had on mine, which also did a trackday at Cadwell.

+1 for the roadsmarts. Great tyre and I got huge mileage out of them.
Plus if you go onto the dunlop website you can download a voucher that gets you free fitting!

Read this month's issue of TWO and you see whitham do a winter test of tyres. They've done Bridgestone BT021's (which came last), Metzeler M3's came 4th, Pirelli diablo stradas came 3rd, Micheline Pilot Sport 2's (sport tyres, not the sport touring) came 2nd and Dunlop roadsmarts came first. Test bike was a ducati 848, so not exactly a commuter - they tested sport touring tyres against sports tyres on a sportsbike and the sports touring roadsmart won - whitham said that they offered good grip, stability and inspired confidence. If you can't stretch to the roadsmarts (mine have done 3k miles and still feel fresh) strada's are a pop at 150 and seem to have gotten good reviews (it also came 2nd in the test when fitted to a VFR800 on BIKE... roadsmarts came 1st though). Dunlop are really trying hard to dispel their old reputation and the roadsmart is the only tyre I'd trust for the roads.

I have a fazer 600 and will only use BT021 on it, I get an average of 15000 miles out of a rear, so even though they seem expensive, they work out at good value for money, for me anyway.

Ive got a bt021 on my bike, ive done just over 6000 miles on it and there is still about 3.5-4 mm of tread on it. Its really grippy in the wet and dry too.
