Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction here...
I have an 87 GPz305, it always starts first time but stubbornly refuses to idle unless you rev it to around 4-5k. Then it makes a noise like it's clearing it's throat and shoots some white-ish smoke out the exhaust. After this it will idle around 3k, because it always needs choke to start, let off the choke a bit and it's fine.
If you try to ride it without doing this then it feels like one cylinder is dropping out, sometimes almost no power then it suddenly picks up and drops out again...
It's done this for quite a long time now, more of an irritation than a problem, but I'm taking it apart in the next few days and wondered if there might be a quick fix? All I can think of is oil in one cylinder, but there's no smoke normally and it dosen't burn any oil. It's usually used for short trips to work and back, but does the same after long motorway journeys etc, so it's not that either.
Any hints would be much appreciated |

It may need the carbs balancing. How long since it had new plugs?
How far are you taking it apart? If you are going as far as removing the right hand side cover (clutch cover) PM me for a couple of tips for stuff to do to help prevent the engine bombing itself at some point in the future. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink.
