Before I was born I had a sister, Susan, who died at 12 weeks old. No-one really spoke of her. I think it was because people would cry.
My Mum & Dad both passed, so no-one to ask about her.
I often thought where she ended up, and what she would look like / be now.
Family tales there was no money to bury her so she was put in a grave with other family members where there was 'a bit of room'. No headstone, as that cost money too.
I often thought over the years, where is she? But thought... I have no idea what year, even decade she died, I have no idea who with, I only had the name Susan to go on and the idea of which cemetery. I knew it was a 'mass grave' so not sure how they registered such things. So I kept putting it off.
I watched a programme a few days ago on adopted kids trying to trace their dead relatives etc and though I would just drop an email to the council where she lived at the time of death, just to see.
A few days later.... they have found her! And are sending me a map to the location (although it is just a grassed area with no stone). Hope I can find it! Buried with 3 others. Not sure who. Think one is definitely family.
So.. I am content in this knowledge now, that I know where she is. The final part of the family jigsaw. Means a lot to me. I will go visit after Christmas as that is my Dad's anniv too.
If you ever want to find a relative with sketchy details, don't give up hope and let it hold you back like it did me.
Emotional rant over

Nice one At least your sister will have someone who now knows where she is and thinks about her.
We have a huge family secret that will never be unravelled, apparently my dad's dad was married before he met my Grandma and had a family with his 1st wife. This was revealed after both had died and there was only an old spinster aunt who knew the full story. She died soon after, but did say that my grandad had an affair with my grandma and ended up divorced from 1st wife. It was all hushed up at the time and now it looks as if the full truth will never be known. ____________________ Enjoy everyday, tell those you love everyday you love them

Right. My Nan had a brother who died quite young. Probably not even weeks.
If I e-mail the council of where they were living at the time I could find it out for her?
Cheers and please help as she's been looking for years |

Ah that is a little heart-warming story, glad you found out what you needed to make things feel complete. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |
