Hello,
I have a 50cc 4 stroke pulse scout moped which is basically a peogout v-vlic. It has done 800 miles now and should be starting to run in and i have nbeen told bymany pprofessionals it should start to do 45mph restricted on flat ground and even quicker down a hill. I have been told that one way to increqase speed ia to change the air filter to a sports air filter, and change the exhuast which i beleive is where the restrictor is located on my moped.
Any one help?

restricted techincally it shouldn't do more than 31mph apart from maybe downhill.

If you don't want any problems with it, just leave it, if you want to detroy it, get a sporty exhaust and sporty air filter and bigger jet.

Even if he leaves it he will no doubt have problems with it.

You'll never hit 45mph on it de-restricted, nevermind restricted.

Don't bother.

I've always seen it as a waste of resources derestricting a 50cc moped for extra performance. Assuming you're 16, just wait a few months until you're 17 and buy a 125.

Then you'll be chasing your ass trying to get more performance out of that. Again, don't bother. Spend your money on doing the full test and buy a bigger bike.

Its a 50cc four stroke = its not going anywhere fast.

Four stroke engine are never really "restricted" they are generally built to a designed power output. Eg, a four stroke 125 bike cant be "derestricted" as
its not restricted in the first place its just designed to have its power.

This is in constrast to say a two stroke 125 which could be "derestricted" by say a expansion box exhaust, different cdi, porting etc etc.

I may be slightly wrong here tho as perhaps 50cc four strokes are limited to comply with 30mph laws....

In any case even "derestricted" a four stroke 50cc will not develop much power, so my advice is to keep it stock and just perform good
maintainence.

Hope this helps,

Rich

Ride it, enjoy it and then move on up the food-chain to a 125 and ever upwards. I almost guarantee that in thirty years time you will be hunting the classifieds and auctions trying to buy the same bike again to try and regain your youth. This is exactly why bikes such as 1970s FS1Es are being fought over by 50 year old fat blokes.

Not a dig I just find it funny that the professionals said it would go faster downhill.

Made me chuckle Laughing
