Quick summary, every year at christmas it seems like everyone gets really spoilt except my mum, and this year it was evident even more so. She never comes up with anything that she wants at christmas, apart from maybe 1 thing from each person, and then cooks christmas dinner for everyone.
Anyway, this year I don't want it to be ignored, so need some suggestions of something to do for/give to her, like a gesture maybe, I don't know lol. I've asked her to think about it but I know she wont.

Cheers for any ideas!

Without knowing what your mum likes this is hard for outsiders. I would have surgested the spa also. Does she get her hair done or anything ? Things like that are just for her which she sounds like she needs. Possibly a meal out maybe with your dad or a friend? save her cooking.

What things do you know of she likes?

She gets her hair done by her friend so it's not as if I could even pay for an appointment with a top hairdresser, or maybe I could?
Erm, she likes......umm. That's just it, she's not one of those people who makes it blindingly obvious what her interest are, and when I ask her she just says she doesn't want anything(to be nice and stop anyone from putting themselves out for her)
Think i'll have a word with dad and ask him if I could pay for them 2 to have a weekend away, or something alone those lines, it has to be something she'll appreciate more though, more personal to her.

Thanks dragonfly

Showing every sign of enjoying your meal then telling her so is a good start.

My Mum really enjoys cooking for her family and loves it when the food is appreciated.

Or vouchers for a clothes shop where it is totally impossable to buy anything practical. I have this trouble with my Mum. Get her shop vouchers for M&S or similar and she'll come back with two pairs of baggy jeans and some socks. You have to pick a shop where she is forced to buy something nice.

Oh she definitely knows how much I enjoy her food, especially after the last 2 days lol
I like the idea about vouchers for somewhere she has to buy something nice.
Thanks mate

Ok if her mate does her hair dont pay for her to go somewhere else as she wont use it as it will offend mate. I know as one of my mates done my hair and another one done it one time and she wasnt happy at all!

I say that weekend away sounds good with your dad! she can entertain herself that way. My mums easy you send her to a beuty spa and shopping in a foreigh country. She goes on holidays to visit shops , no culture just shopping lol She is only back from Amsterdam with dad who treated her to a long weekend away. But you will have to provide spending money for them.

Your mum sounds like she puts everyone before her and really does deserve something nice for herself. I just know when she goes away she will have still put you all before her. Nothing wrong with that thats a good mum but I can see why you want her to go out and have a good time on her.
