This problem seems to be getting steadily worse. At first I dint notice it cos with all the ice been around I've not been too hard on the throttle.

After setting off in 1st with the revs around 3k I find that if i open the throttle up there's no power, the revs creep up slightly (though not in the way they would if the clutch were slipping), but the speed hardly changes, then a couple of seconds later, eveything kicks in. Its a similar situation in 2nd gear too. Once the power kicks in everything is fine and she flies like a jet but there just seems to be that flat spot.

Once christmas is over I'm gonna do all the usual checks (clean air filter and intakes, check throttle cable etc) but has anybody experienced this problem before, or does anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this weak spot

Cheers

Common problem apparently have a look on a few ZZR1200 forums and they will explain how to fix it. Most say the needle valves need shims to fix it completely.
