My bike has been left garaged for a few months with the crank case undone on once side (where the rotor magnets etc sit).
I can see some small bits of dirt / debris that are maybe 1mm x 1mm roughly sitting around the edge of the crank where the casing has been removed.

I want to flush the engine through and get rid of any cack that might be sat around on the edge before it blocks an oil passage or something!
I was thinking along the lines of pouring some hot oil through from the dip stick and letting it pour out again, hopefully collecting any cack in its path.

Is this a good idea? My other idea was to just pick out and wipe off any obvious bits and leave the filter to stop the rest (if any) before it gets into the system.

P.S. The engine casing has been left on the engine, but not screwed in tight at all. The magnets 'sucked' it on quite well though. I don't have to worry about anything with regards to that at all do I? It's been left in a dry garage.

Cheers for any help - I am now so close to getting my bike running again and am just hoping for a smooth ride!

just the genny-cover has been off? I'd give it a good wipe-round with clean rag and perhaps a blast of aerosol degreaser. The oil filter will pick up any particles before they get to the oilways.

Whats wrong with a vacume cleaner.... Your mum won't mind so long as you don't tell her Embarassed

I could be wrong but rotor magnets etc will not be running in oil, so flushing through will not remove any crud from in there.
