Coolant and 2-Stroke Tank Cleaning

Anybody know whats the best thing for cleaning the crap and stains out of the inside of these?

Don't know why you would want to clean these unless they were full of shit. Stains are ok.

Really hot soapy water, then rinse about 10 times with clean water.

hi,
used some left over pain thinners for this type of stuff, when i couldnt be arsed walking from shed to house (all of 100yards, lol)
then rinseD out with petrol or parafin..
but you cant beat plain old fairy liquid & hot water,

they are full of stuck on crap, and i want to clean them as im doing a rebuild/project so i wanted them looking half decent

I wouldn't use thinners or petrol, especially not the coolant one, just incase you don't wash it all off. Some of it may go round your system and ruin the seals.

Stick with hot water and fairy liquid but make sure you wash it all off. On the oil tank, make sure you let it dry completely.

Would engine cleaner/degreaser be any good ive tried soap and water several times but there is still dirty black marks on the inside of both tanks (bearing in mind they have been sat there for 15 years doing nothing) or would this affect the plastic in someway?

take the tank off fill with washing up liquid and hot water (not to hot)

block the holes and give it a good shake for 5 mins.

if that dont clean it

Get some small marbles and individually wrap them in cloth and tie with string. repeat the above but with them in the tank to rub the crap off the walls BE CAREFULL you dont damage the oil level sensor if it has one.
