Right im not much of a tight ass but recenley Yamaha Fully sinthetic oil 2t is 16 euros 900ml bottle Surprised but if i go to the supermarket its 5 euros for a 2l

My question is will this cheaper oil make any diffrence ?

And also some one said that you are suppost to stick to the same colour oil in or it buggers things up ? Is this true ?

cheap 2stroke oil is not good for your engine the oil mixes with petrol and lubricates the piston and bearings and moving parts good quality oil will give your engine a long life just make sure you use the correct oil for your bike premix or injector and make sure its fully synthetic .

hi,
colours got bugger all to do with it.
just dont mix mineral with synthetic.
seen synthetic oil in green & ted & its ok to mix them.
but seen mineral in red, synthetic in red, these dont mix.
& you can stick the cheap tesco/asda/lidl stuff in, just dont expect your top end to last long, especially if you rev the tits off it!
get the best oil you can afford & stick to whatever the owners manual says with regard to mineral,semi-synthetic or fully synthetic.
cheers,
GAZ

It's a scooter, as long as the supermarket oil has on the back 'Jaso FB' then it will be fine.

My dad has used the same £2 a litre Carlube oil in his scooter, all 15,000km of the ownership from new. He's never had any problems.

Fully synthetic oil is for high performance or tuned bikes. It's just not needed on a scooter putting out 3.5hp.

He doesn't ride a DT125 though.

Think of it this way, his bike puts out 3.5hp from it's 50cc engine so it's equivalent to 8.75hp on a 125cc. Your DT125 will be putting out 20+hp so needs better oil oil than the cheap shit you get from supermarkets. His scooter on the other hand doesn't and will happily run on cheap 2 stroke oil.

P.S. Serves you right for not carrying a spare spark plug Wink

if it's a normal ped then ok you can use shit oil..but it will wear a top end faster than a semi synth oil. the other major thing is crap building up on the plug and pipe. try it if you must but do check your plug every week even if it seems ok. if it's coking up..then any loss in performance might wel be carbon build up. for a ped I'd say £6 a litre oil is more than good enough day to day. you dont need yamaha fully synth unless you tune it silly. PP2 or rock oil semi or the like will more than be up to the job

£6 a litre? What a waste of money.

I used £2 a litre in my scooter, covered 4,000km and never changed the spark. I never even looked at it.

The money you save when buying the oil will easily cover the cost of a top end rebuild that will come ever so slightly sooner than if you used semi synthetic Rolling Eyes

People who put expensive oils in scooters are fools.
