Hi

Wouldnt bother for road use. And if the chain is rattling as the adjuster cannot take up the slack then the chain is probably shot.

Sounds like you need to find a better Honda dealer.

All the best

Hi

Think they can, and Hondas used to be REALLY bad for it. Stuff like the CX500 when it was launched couldnt even get to its first service without the cam chain failing

However they seem to last fine in normal use. I would not worry about it, especially when the alternative is a manual one which will make it very easy to run the cam chain too tight or too loose and which will require regular fiddling to keep it right

I would think about it with a seriously tuned engine or one that is being raced though

All the best

Keith

Hi

Difficult to say without hearing it. Being honest a half decent machanic with the right tool can probably fit a new rivit link cam chain in a few hours, and far less if you do some of the work by removing the bodywork, etc

All the best

Keith
