My missus is after a new (used) bike. She has seen a Bulldog at the local bike shop. 04 reg, 14000 miles, 1 owner, £2995.

I've looked through ads and this doesn't seem a bad dealer price. I know fcuk all about this bike except it;s a V twin. Confused

Has anyone got any comments, experience, horror stories.

Any information appreciated.

Nothing more useful than it seemed bloody heavy compare to other bikes of a similar cc... I struggled to get it off the side stand.

Forerunner to the MT series if I remember. Like them, underpowered and overweight. Basically a cruiser for those that have some taste Smile ; a poor man's Buell.

Some of the reviews talked about odd handling, I have one of the later ones which seems to handle well considering it is basically a fast cruiser without the uncomfortable sat up riding position.
Brakes and suspension are actually similar if not same as Yam R1 so good.
It is a bitheavy but relatively small, quite good for traffic squeezing.
Engine may not be hugely powerful but has bags of torque at low revs, in the real world it feels quite fast of the line.
Not many about so expect it to get attention whe parked up.
The build quality is good, no corrosion on mine after two years but I keep it out of the worst of the salt

I know it has a Yamaha cruiser engine, and that it was the result of the MT-01 prototype. The press hated it because it didn't look exactly like an MT-01.

The only real downside it has as a bike is its weight as far as I can see. if it were 50kg lighter then it would be a real tool. But, at that price for that age can you really complain? (although the mileage is highish... I'd have expected to see a sub 10k mileage...)

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
