Why can two different companys give me two quotes which are over £1000 different when they state the insurer as the same.
Im looking for an idea of how much it will cost if i buy a hornet 600.
Ive had quotes rangeing from £980 to over £3000 for tpft. One 1400, and another 2500 quoted as being from zeneth! With everything the same inclueding excess.
And why does adding theft cover double the cost, when the bike will be garraged, alarmed, and locked up. And i dont even live in a low crime area, this is a no crime area. I've hered of 5 brake ins in the last 18yrs, and they were all the same night!
Moan over.
Jay

Because one hopes they can make £1000 profit out of gullibable people.

Theft won't be targeted for your very specfic area, and you may well take it to other places where theft is higher.

Never go by the fuckin online quotes. I had a preliminary quote before I bought the bike for £780. Went to insure it earlier & it ended up costing £1100

Im not sure what bike im going to get yet, if i get an older bike i will prob jsut get tpo, but if i end up w/ a new one with my luck if i dont insure it, a week after i buy it it will walk off. And there is no way that i will be able to replace it in a million years. And i rely on my weels to get to uni every day.

It's quite normal for different brokers to have different prices for the same insurance company it's just that the insurance company offers different policies to different brokers.

but to combat this my old man (diy guy) has electrified the garage so if any fucker trys to open it *sizzle* *sizzle*

hehe Twisted Evil

anyways yeah just get tpo

Do a google search on Tony Martin, he's the guy who shot a burglar. Yeah, it's slightly different, but it shows that you are not allowed to do things like that in this country. I'd unplug your electric garage.

Insurance brokers are trying to make as much as possible, therefore they just quote you what they think you might pay Smile You never accept a quote, ring around, and say "I've been quoted xyz, can you beat it? Smile"

And saying you live in a low crime area, and have good security, do you ever leave your bike anywhere where it might be stolen from?

also, its worth having a "bid" with some companys. get your best quote, tell them that you are looking to spend slightly less and say that you will take the policy out today if they can get it down to xxx amount of pounds. if they want your custom they will at least try, it worked for me!

Hi

Charlotte used to work for a computer company that did the quoatation systems for a major high street insurance brokers. This was car insurance, but the ideas are bound to be the same

Basically they get your previous lowest quote out of you, and then give you a quote that undercuts that but which gives them the most profit. Say you had been quoted £300, and they can sell you 2 policies, one for £200 with £50 profit for them or one for £250 with £100 profit. They will quote you the ones for £250, and if you hadnt got a previous quote then they would probably have come up with the £300 one!

All the best

Keith

Yea, I usually quote a percentage under my actual lowest one, to see what they can do. If they beat it I'll phone back with a competitiors lower quote (real or not), until they won't beat it.
