one of my best mates was in the harshest accident on the belton crossroads, some women jus passed her test ina nova pulled out on him, he was doing bout 60 in the 60 limit and his rs 50 is a complete write off, the frame is snapped into 2 bits near where the forks are attached to the frame and the forks themselves were upside down on the bike, bits of carbon fibre everywhere

he has a composite fracture in his leg and a broken arm, he wasnt wearin gloves either, so he's pretty fucked up, he did his theory test that day and passed as well

dunno if he'll ever get the courage up to ride again

well hopefully the woman will learn from the experiance Evil or Very Mad

and hope your mate recovers just fine, if he's passonate about bikeing he'll get back on one as he'll realise it wasn't his fault and it was just one of them things.

he may learn from the experiance too (never trust a car at a junction - never assume they have seen you)

all the best to your friend

you must encourage you mate to ride again if you know he had a big passion as he will thank you for it when he's on the road again and if he does get on another bike watch how much of a better rider he become as cautiousness is one of the best assets you can have when riding.

Not to be harsh or anything but; what on earth was he riding with no gloves for?? Is he thick? It annoys me when I see people out with no protection on. Sorry to hear about it though. Tell your mate to go buy some protection before he rides again, it’ll make him feel safer. As for encouraging him to get back on, I bet his family are doing their best to make sure he doesn’t anyway!

Hope your mate gets better soon! As for not wearing gloves, it is a bit silly espically when youre riding at 60mph but you should be able to ride your fucking bike without having some silly twat in a car pull out on you and nearly kill you! I bet her excuse was something like "i didnt see you" Confused

I'm not an agressive driver or anything (far from it - i don't want sum twat chasing me in a nova lol) and i'm doing my CBT tomorrow, but i've *already* discovered a vague dislike of all cage drivers and all cages.. I'm not saying that i intend 2 piss all car drivers off, just that some of them pay so little attention to the road today that they probably deserve it!
Evil or Very Mad GRR @ Car drivers and that "I didn't see you" and @ Novas in general!!!

Hex is right, never trust a car driver. They have no idea what a bike is capable of & dont want to either. Always expect the unexpected when riding a bike, cause as soon as you let your guard down it will happen. (hope i`m not to negative but i just don`t trust cars drivers they NEVER seize to amaize me).
Also, go get him some gear. A good jacket, helmet, gloves, trousers & boots. They all serve a purpase.

Never trust a car driver. Or a lorry driver. Bus driver. Taxi driver. Motorcyclist. Scooterist. Cyclist. Pedestrian. Animal.

Bottom line... dont trust anyone or anything.

It's the unfortunate truth. In 8 years on the road, I've had problems with all of the above. So basically, it comes down to you having to be the one on the defensive if you want to remain in one piece. Confused

Since i have been cycling everywhere my opinion of cars has got worse and worse Rolling Eyes Most dont bother to even give you enough space when they over take, and rarely give way for you when you are trying to cross the road. I got clipped by a wing mirror the other day and they didnt even stop Sad

Definately never trust a car, if there is anyone waiting to pull out of a turning, I always move across the road as far as possible. So if they do pull out you have a little bit longer to do something about it before they hit you.
