As per the title.

I got a text, slid my finger to unlock and then screen went black...

I can still get phonecalls, but can't answer etc.

Is there anyway I can turn it off to reset it or anything?

Cheers!

Hold down the button on the front and the powerbutton together for about 10 secs of so till the apple appears on the screen. Takes about 5 mins to do a full reset and reboot so dont worry if it sits there for a while!

Just curious, if needed in future, does this reset to factory default? ie, remove contacts, music, photos etc?

No it's just a reboot. I've had to reboot mine int he same way in the past, never had it take anywhere near 5 mins though. But if anything bad ever does happen to your phone and you need to do a firmware restore be safe in the knowledge that when ever you sync you will get a backup of your contacts and other stuff (if you have chosen to sync these)
