How cheap is it?
I'd personally not recommend getting a bike with problems that you can't fix easily on your own, but if it's at an irresistible price then it's worth a look I guess.
Good luck. ____________________ TiN

I would say factor in the price of a replacement engine, just incase, because it can be more hassle to fix than replace for quite a few probs.
Not to 'up' on anything but the basics of weird engine sounds |

Make sure it's not kicking out lots of blue smoke, as this means it is burning oil.
This can mean that there are a range of problems from the not too bad i.e. Valve seals and seats are perished and needs replacing (probably about a £400 job), to the worst e.g. there is damage to the bores (a rebore or new engine!). ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

I think that Keith was trying to say that the original shock was a bit stiff, Phoe, hence the advice to get it softened...
But as G said, if it is only the engine then the worst case scenario would be to get a new one...but I suppose that you'll need to find one first ____________________ TiN

Bought it.
More details to follow, but basically it's a 1990 ZXR750 H1 (earliest model) with race can. Not a bad bike and definately worth what I paid for it. I know I could sell the bike tomorrow and make a nice profit.
Actually Keith, I know you're not wrong often mate but the H1/H2 models don't have valve shims. These models have screw adjustment, which is a bit cheaper I've read.
Just need to clean the carbs out and get them balanced, plus get the fuelling sorted.

Very pretty.
Though it is still green
Good luck with the carbs, are you doing them yourself or employing the services of a much esteemed motorcycle mechanic? ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!
