OK Went to Snetterton Yesterday and really really really enjoyed it. In fact it was one of the best days out in my life, I'd wish I had done on earlier.

My tyres were great(Metzler Renesports) they weather was wonderful and the people help each other out as much as possible, where they can. Truely an awesome day.

I must say Snetterton is a really good track to learn on as it is quite easy in my opinion. Shame it has only 2 left handers, but hey, I am not complaining. Very Happy

Here are a couple of shots of me on the track(below), I did not manage to get my knee down, which was my goal, but next time. And there will be a next time, I came really close and by looking at some of the pics I need to work on my body positioning to get that goal.

The morning sessions I had the yellow vest on as it was my first track day. In the afternon sessions there I took it off as I knew the track, shame ther was only a small handsull of pics as I was really close to getting my goal and I was told by 3 people I was getting faster and faster round the track, session by session. Which boosted my confidence.

So here are my pics(keep in mind a few of them are warm up laps
Wink )

Oh dear....could be an expensive summer full of trackdays Wink

You look a little ridged/tense, try to loosen up. Get a whole butt cheek off the seat, drop the inside shoulder and get some of your body off the bike, not so much for knee down but for increased cornering speed.

Aim to be smooth, always smooth and speed will come. Bike should always be settled in whatever you do. Turn as quickly as possible, get some power on as quickly as possible too, it'll keep the bike on a tighter line, open the throttle smoothly and progressively throughout the entire corner. It's impossible to say when to start feeding some throttle as every corner is different.

The more trackdays you do the easier it gets, going back to the same track, even a year later, is awesome. After the first session you are right back where you left off after the last one Smile

Relax, hang off more, use the whole width of the circuit.

And Enjoy it! Smile

oh yes welcome to the expensive obsession of trackdays, get some track fairings before you ruin the current ones.

looks good for a first trackday, less corners the better to start with, somehting like silverstone gp would of thrown you off big time as it has 19 corners. the only left hander course in the country is rockingham international.

other than that, more track time you get the more confidence will come.

Foot position is fine.

People worry too much about being too precise, and hence it aches and hurts when trying for hours to touch knee down. (As Deano said, improving corner speed is far better, and once thats nailed, if you still feel the need, leaning/hanging a little will see you scraping like its au naturale.

For right handers. Lock thy left knee into the bike, and sit back a little. Relax thy arms. Steady, smooth throttle control into, mid, and out of said corner. Head looking at the exit point of the corner, and exxaggerated a little. Move smoothly, using your "pinion" points (ie those well placed foot balls on pegs) should be in the only parts of you that stay where they are, same with hands. Everything else should be loose-y goose-y.

Hang bum off, stick knee out at what feels like a right angle to the bike (realistically on photos its only 30-45 degrees from the bike)

Lean, with decent corner speed. Shouldnt be anywhere near your tyre limit if youre hanging off enough.

And "krrrrssscccccccchhhhhhh" coupled with a pleasant vibratory feelingwithin the knee will follow Smile Thumbs Up

Indeed. Then you start racing, then you're paying it off for years to come.

Rockingham on the 11th - presuming molly doesn't sort it out with his bank, there should still be space to squeeze another in the van Smile.

Oh yeah, and sit further back on the seat. It looks like your nuts are right against the tank, when your arse should be against the seat pad where possible.

Glad you had a good day mate, i quite fancy doing snetterton.
I dont suppose you saw a yellow daytona 955, a grey/white blade and a ducati m600 going round did you? They were tutors from my college, and im just wondering if the ducati made it without breaking down.. Laughing

I was just about to fight the corner for all the monster owners out there...

then I remembered last time out I missed pretty much all the morning sessions as it would only run on one bastard cylinder....
