buying a broken (geared) 50cc

I'm thinking of moving up from the restricted scooter which is getting dull to ride to a 50cc de-restricted geared and I quite fancy the idea of doing one up myself, my dads a mechanic and said he'd give me a hand, I then want to sell both bikes maybe make a bit of profit and buy a 125 when I'm old enough.

I wanna know a good bike to get, where to find a broken down one (good site suggestion?). I like the look of the aprillia rs50.

How old are you?

You kinda answered your own question...the Aprilia RS50 is certainly the only 50cc bike I would consider getting (if at all) and I'm sure everyone else feels the same.

If your 16 you can only have a moped, thats restricted to 31mph or 33 or something along those lines.

Go past that, and cops pull you (like they do in coventry with a fascination for anyone who doesnt have a fireblade), youll be riding with no licence, no insurance.

Wham, Bam, say good bye to being able to afford insurance for 3 years and potentially loose your licence and a nice big tasty fine.

Seriously, hold out till your 17, I did and I know its a nightmare, but its not worth the hassle of fixing a run down bike, that isnt reliable in the first place, to run the risk of being raped by cops.
