I've been looking to sell my Triumph Daytona 600 for a little while now, and have had no interest. I've been round a few bike places, and they've offered me £2k for it. I could definitely use the money, but with this whole credit crisis, do you think it's worth holding out for a while, see if things get better, or the longer I wait, the older the bike gets, the less it's worth?

Advice needed, thanks in advance.

Theres 2 things for you to look at really, The credit crunch and the summer/winter thing.

I think the credit crunch is gonna get worse before it gets better tbh like Hetzer says it would be work waiting a month or so then selling it as you would get more due to it being the start of summer.

Would deffo hold out untill the weather starts to warm up.
Prime example - OH brought at bike (ER6) back in Oct IIRC for £2.2k
Tried to sell after 2 months (with an extra 150 miles added) and was getting offers of around £1.6k.
I would hold out untill the weather clears and gets warmer.

The recession will burn itself out by the middle of next year. I'd try selling in the spring. At the moment, no one has any money because of Christmas. Its pissing wet and freezing cold, and 90% of bikers won't ride in this weather, let alone look for a bike. Especially the kind of rider that often gravitates towards Triumphs (OK I'm a bit of an exception because I'm under the age of 40. Same as you really.)

End of march beginning of april start trying again. If you still get no joy, stick it on ebay with no reserve and a starting price of the minimum you want for it. Do a good detailed description with lots of photos so people are more likely to buy without viewing. I usually do a ten day auction starting on a thursday. It may be good to try to make this coincide with the first bit of fine weather. Then (and this is the important bit) Spam it round all of the bike forums. This increases the watchers and is likely to attract serious buyers.

Then, if it doesn't sell at the end (and no one snipes on it) then you've only lost the listing fee. But I guarantee with the first bit of fine weather, and a bit of forum related hype someone will snipe it and you'll get the money you want.

Good luck! Smile

£2k sounds pretty good for a Triumph 600 to me; so I'd probably take it.

Stick it on a few free places for a bit more first and see if there's any interest.

But then, if they think they can sell it for more, presumably a bit later in the year so can you, if you can wait.

Bear in mind G that my Speed four was bought for £2k this year and that is a 2001. The Daytona 6 is a bit newer and probably worth closer th £3k at a guess. At least £2500 I'd say.

Forgot the Daytona was the pointier one (despite having, I believe, that bike having been in my van on 'that weekend').
Anyway, it's a 600 trumpet, so I definitely wouldn't value it much more than that, but <shrugs>, suppose some people may well do Smile.

depends on how badly you want the money, if you don't need it/ can generate another way and the bike will get used then i'd say keep it. If however kids need feeding and house is falling apart then bike will have to go but as said hang out for a bit of decent weather.

Hold onto the bike, spend a couple of weekends cleaning it up good and proper, then when spring comes round, you can hopefully get a sweet price Thumbs Up
