hi there
thanks for taking the time to read this.
I think I have an italian import (although it does say on the log book that the date of first registration being in the uk as 01 07 02.)
the speedo is in kmph and the VIN number is ZDCJCZZA*********.
my local bike mechanic says it cant be derestricted. i am after but acceleration more than anything and i feel that it isnt very quick off the mark.it sounds kinda 'throaty' pullng off and unresponsive but then when it reaches a certain RPM it kinda kicks in and does accelerate pretty well but its just the initial pull off?!?!?
its not so much top end
I'd say it does about 75mph top end, give or take.
Now i've read in a few places that the Italian NSR has no restrictions? if thats the case shouldn't I be hitting speeds of about 100mph?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks lads!!
peace!

Is it an NSR or a CBR?

The NSR is two stroke and therefore doesn't have any valves. Sounds like you may have a CBR, if so 75-80's about right, and they cannot be derestricted.

Reed valves? Maybe he's checked to make sure they aren't gummed up.

when I say I had the valves checked, the 'mechanic' revved the throttle and put his 'expert' ear to the engine and told me it was fine! Hah!
the bike has done less than 5000 miles.
(and its definately an NSR 125 R1)

Hi

The NSR used to be restricted just in the exhaust and the intake. Later ones varied depending on the market. You might need a different cdi unit and / or a different power valve control unit.

The person who had a very high level of knowledge is alains. He will probably need a bit more of your chassis number (think there should be a 2 digit number and a letter after the bit you have posted, think th 2 digit number refers to the year but not sure).

Think you have also misread the chassis number. I think it should be ZDCJC22A*********.

All the best

Keith

Sounds like mine, you will need new cdi and maybe power valve as kickstart said.

Would be cheaper to get a bigger bike tbh...
