I bought a Teknic textile two piece at the bike show, paid almost £300 for the pair. It's been excellent in the cold and drizzle that we've had, but today I had my first 65 mile commute in proper rain (not torrential, just "normal" rain) and ended up looking like I'd pissed myself and dropped a drink down my shirt Evil or Very Mad. The water started coming in after around 40 minutes of motorway travelling.

The waterproof membrane in the jacket hasn't let and water in, but it looks to be the YKK waterproof zips which have let water seep in. The zips are your normal small-toothed zips but they have a rubbery coating on the front so when zipped up both sides of the rubber coating touch and (apparently) form a waterproof seal. There is no shield for the zip like I've had on my other textile jackets, and on the trousers there is no internal guard behind the zip which folds up (like you get on waterproof boots), just a pointless little lip.

Best picture of waterproof zip I could find:

Has anyone else experienced this with these zips, or do I have a dodgy set of textiles?

I've got the same type of zip on my Triumph branded textiles and they do not let water in (well, they havn't yet) but they do have a textile covering over the zip that will no doubt help quite a lot.

it does seem possible to open up the rubber coating by about 0.5mm by pulling it apart slightly, this will be enough to let water through I would have thought.

Which textile was it ?
Take it back to the seller which should be on the reciept who will send it off and they will then give you a new one if found faulty.I had to do the same on my RST suit until now I have not tested it in water but regardless I textile proofed it as a precaution.
I can say that the spada circuit jacket is waterproof. How so ?
well I forgot to close the jacket pocket and water got in upon putting my hand inside, the pocket was like a fish bowl. so took it off at turn it up side down to let the water out hahahaha. On the plus side it is only £90 and warm
