A total cop out IMHO.
Two chiefs exploring forbidden meat. Song Bird ( they liked it), Snake ( quite liked), Rat ( refused to eat), Maggoty cheese ( eaten), Beetle ( grudgingly eaten), Dog (eaten but then regretted), Horse (eaten), elephant ( refused to eat), Monkey ( refused to eat).
Pussies.
I am now vegetarian and have been so for over 20 years but back in the day I ate meat and I lived in Africa.
Little birds (raw, but I prefer them singing), Snake ( snake tastes like heaven, the more poisonous the better), Rat ( sun dried in salt and pepper served with African maize beer Very Happy ), Maggoty cheese ( Tried it tastes of piss), Beetle ( not actually tried them but I used to eat Mopani worms (caterpillars) not good but full of protein), dog ( never tried it but what the hell I do not like dogs anyway), horse ( eaten it in Uzbekistan, three year old and smoked. Brilliant but you do not need a lot of it), Elephant ( Only dried as biltong) Monkey ( yup, nice lean meat and full of taste).

Damn straight I would eat Elephant, as long as it was from a sustainable source etc.

Wouldn't eat insects, the texture really just does not appeal.

No bugs, no way ... I wouldn't eat bugs (or caterpillars)
Or maggoty cheese.
Well, I might eat the cheese but not the maggots Sick

Rest I'd probably try.
Might prefer not to know what it is, but if I was REALLY hungry, I'd eat the rest, I suppose.

I couldn't eat bugs ... bleah. I would probably chew bark before I would eat bugs ... I think I really would rather die of starvation than feel their crispy little legs or fat caterpillars wriggling down my throat, urgh.

To prepare a mopani worm all you do is....
Sqidge them on a rock to get the poo out and dip in spiced brine for a bit.
Lay out on rock number 2 in the sun until dry and eat, they taste krap.

When I ate meat I always maintained that if a healthy lump of human flesh (amputated limb from industrial accident etc) was freely donated by its owner I would eat it.

I guess in that sense I would probably try it, maybe. Would have to do some thinking before I tried that.

I think the eating of flesh should inspire thought and conscious searching. I did both and am now vegetarian.

I ate a bit of a lizard we caught in Albania but the guy I was with ate a lot more of it. Don't remember it tasting very good. Was that a bad idea?

Yeah, by the sounds of it they are. Elephant sounds a lot more appealing than maggoty cheese. Sick

Why did they refuse to eat?

Eating the flesh of carnivores does not appeal to me. It is inherantly risky for one thing due to concentration of poisons and heavy metals as you move up the food chain (look at DDT levels in american bald eagles for a case in point). There are also parasite issues.

Elephant would be fair game to me, just a big cow really.

Couldnt have said that better myself, fancy some tree? they are neutrious. Neutral

I hate watching them shows on tv that they like to show clips of people eating giant maggots I actually do gag! once I think I did vomit. Just from watching! Sick No cant have it, no way not eating bugs or elephants. I wont even eat rabbit. yet again a good cow goes down well with some peper sauce.

I think I would eat most meats, wouldn't do dog, rabbit, cat or rat, but that is just because the first three are pets to me the last has dirt associated with it. but if I didn't know what it was i would probably eat it. as for human flesh then again if needs be yes but try to keep away from relatives.
But if on the desert island and thats all there was, then i would have no problem eating it.
I do have a problem killing them though, even the cow or pig, chicken etc. that actual act of life /death by my hand. No problem taking animal to abattoir, watching be killed then taking it away to butcher it, just that little death bit.

Missing out by not eating rabbit, it nice stuff! Especially when fresh. I broke my brace while eating it once.

Never had a problem killing an animal for food before (or because it was a pest), been brought up that way I guess.

Anyone know what was wrong with that guy?

He was emulating Johnny Depps portrayal of Raoul Duke on acid/ether rather well.

Possibly stroke, downs, palsy?

He had Parkinson's Disease, they said so at the start of the program. They were both raving fruits as well but their sexuality was not mentioned.

Yeah it did look like a bit of a weak gay cripple cook show that could have fit into 10 minutes.

They were lame.

I'd eat anything. Honeypot ants....mmmmmm.

I'd be happier eating human flesh than the flesh of a dog or a cat.

I wouldnt have a problem eating anything else as long as I knew it wasnt going to make me ill. If it tasted really bad, I might spit it out, as that might be an indicator that it would make me really ill.

As a kid, i was forced to eat things and told off if i turned my nose up to it or expressed disgust which is fair enough - i don't think you should shun something you haven't tried yourself (unless e.g. you have a pet dog, which you become emotionally attached to- i wouldn't really expect you to eat dog meat)

Growing up with Chinese culture- we eat chicken feet, duck hearts, all sorts of insides from cows (tripe/intestine etc.), fish stomachs, pig trotters and ears, swallow (as in the bird) spit, and the list goes on... so i don't squirm at a lot of food and I like to think I would try anything once and wouldn't have too many issues eating it...

You don't have a lot of choice if you were a caveman, or someone stuck in the outbacks of Australia! etc. It all comes down to a cultural difference- Every individual will approach food with different morals and views. I, however, am pretty open minded when it comes to food and would have most likely tried everything on that programme...

Completely agree, its all down to culture and desperation. My pets would be on a skewer over the barby and closely followed by the neighbours if there was nothing else.

I'm with Stinkwheel on the 'No Carnivores' rule, though insectivores would be fair game...hedgehog anyone?

I've eaten the usual kangaroo, crocodile, ostrich, along with zebra, wilderbeest, nyala, kudu and the most divine gemsbok.

The gemsbok was the best meat I've ever tasted, god, my mouth is watering at the memory of it.

Before:

After:

I want it so badly, I could cry...

I'm at the conflict that I want to try every meat (and unlike those pansies, I'd fooking eat it) I can, but I don't believe in eating wild animals. Well, at least not en masse.

I would quite happily boltgun every shark finner I met, yet wouldn't mind trying it.

Bah.

But yeh, stinkwheel is right. Bioaccumulation is bad mmmkay. But then, most of the fish /we/ (I tend not to, see above) eat are quite high level predators. Tuna for instance?
