Hi

Not bad bike, but quite dated now. Think top speed is around 130~135mph. Handling was good at the time. Anti dive on the forks a joke.

Would think about it depending on the price, but you can easily get a GPX600 (the model that replaced the GPZ) for £1000

All the best

Keith

A friend of mine has got one from the same year and he's very happy with it.
It doesn't have quite as much punch as nowadays machines but for the price it is a very reliable machine to get.
It's wheighs pretty much at almost 200kg but if you've ever seen the lights of a gym you should have little trouble getting it up.
The fastest my friend has gone on it is about 130mph but supposedly it can deliver up to 140mph.
The biggest problems on this model seems to be the primary chain which may need replacing and also the cam chain and valve clearances.

You can get some pics, tips and complete tehcnical specs in here: GPZ 600 R

heavy 80s sports 600, but then if your coming off a 125 it'll feel like a fucking rocket.
a grand does seem a lot, but then it has a new clutch and exhaust system.

if the tyres, c & s and brake pads are also new, and its had a recent service, its an ok price, but don't expect to sell it for that kinda money if you do buy it.

according to UMG, only 70bhp and lots of bits rot (exhaust, uni-track linkages, calipers, ignition system.) also quite weak frames in crashes, and one featured in UMG about a year wrecked it engine from a crash, having run for about 30 second lying on its side one part of the engine was starved of oil and blew 200 miles later.

UMG reckoning £1400 for an absolutely spotless one and £700 for a shabby one with a sound engine.

for that cash a little more would get you a bandit 600, which would be a much better bet.

I wouldn't bother. It seems too much for the bike. If that sort of thing is what you like, look for a GPX600, you can get them for a grand and they have another 15bhp over the GPZ

Hi

Dont think he has mentioned a price yet for it. It was me who said that you can get a GPX for £1k, which may have confused a few people.

If it is clean and tidy, and mechanically in good condition (forks good, tyres good, chain good, shock decent, rear suspension linkages well lubed with no play, etc) then I wouldn't run away if it was for sale at £1k, but that would be pretty close to the most I would pay for one with that mileage.

All the best

Keith

I do think that is too much. Even with all new consumables and the like, you would get nowhere near that when you come to sell it
