This is indeed correct. I passed my CBT on Thursday and was happy to hear from the training centre that the test changes have been pushed back from the 30/03 to 27/04. This should give me more than enough time to get it sorted after my theory this coming Thursday Very Happy

It could be longer. I was at a meeting last week, and it was admitted that one of the reasons why the new test has been delayed is due to the fact that 70% of the examiners failed the new test themselves. Unless they are capable of passing it, they cannot examine learners, and many of them are still struggling. fact!

- New test can be booked from 30 March 2009 at the latest
- Testing to commence on Monday 27 April

I don't fully understand this part.
The new tests do not start for pretty much a month later. What about if you want to book a test for between march30th and april 27th in order to just miss the new test?

You can pre book a test for that time, all i would say is that when we get closer to the new test going live you will get a mad rush of people trying to get through before the new test comes in, just like last year.

@ T.C - I would be very surprised if 70% of examiners failed the test, in fact I don't believe it. There is nothing at all in the new test that someone with just a few months experience could not handle never mind people doing it most days for a living.

When our test centre opened for the day to let examiners have a go every one of them from the area walked it, a breeze. Not one struggled.

In fact towards the end they were all having a competition to see who could do the fastest obstacle avoidance.

What the hell is going on with this test?
In 2007 they said January/Feb 08 the test would change, then when I did my test in June they said it would change August or maybe October.
Now their saying March 09?

I was there at the opening of my new TC, the examiners found it easy to do, but some of the instructors struggled. I did hear of some examiners taking their time to master the test. I expect that some of those examiners who may be struggling may not be set up for it as many follow in cars and are out of practise on the bike.

Thats possible, I never understood why they allow bike examiners to use a car on the test, there is no way they see, hear and feel what the candidate does so that reactions and the like are understood.

I dont think people should worry about the new test, its easy for those of us that have passed to say that however each component part can be practiced over and over until you get it right.

The main benefits of doing it off road is that you dont need to worry about other road users.

Once you get on the road it's a straight forward ride with no e-stops, turns and so on..

@TC Again - Not doubting your source I just dont think that as much as 70% would be failing it, however if as skudd says, the majority are lazy bastids and use the car then that 70% figure becomes a possibility.

And if thats true, fire the fekkin lot of them.
