Greenlaning, nothing serious just fun. |
The cheap route (my way:) )
Safety: MX boots / knee guards / elbow guards / back protect / maybe chest and shoulder guards (I dont bother myself for green laning) / Helmet (obviously) = £130 max (and thats with a new helmet)
Clothing: 2nd hand ex race (they like to change them twice a year for fashion reasons and you are going to sweat and get covered in cow piss anyway) :
MX Pants(£15) - unless its really cold (below 3) then dont bother with water proof trousers ... you will get soaked from sweat anyway, and you stay warm.... if it really bothers you then buy some cheap waterproof trousers to go over the pants.
MX jersey (they are big and baggy and easy to get over armour + a t shirt under the kit) = £20 max new
Cheap sweatshirt over that lot if its chilly.
If summer then I ride in that alone !
Waterproof Enduro Jacket ... this is the most important bit for comfort .. keeps your body and core dry and warm ... its the best bit of kit I have bought clothes wise ... and has pockets for stuff like phones and money etc.
Worth spending some cash on .. new they are approx £80 to £200
My local mx shop has new Sinisalo ones,, reduced from 169 to 80 .. all cos they are last years design.
I managed to get a Sinisalo one on ebay.. good condition, hardly used for £21

Last bit of essential kit is some seal skin socks ... expensive (£25)... but your feet stay dry and therefore warm
oh! and some cheap gloves.... only bother with waterproof ones when it gets cold again ,,, the mx ones (£20 new)are fine for now until winter again. ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.
