In the bible, torah, and koran, there is a bit about an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

To us it seems a bit barbaric, but its about proportionality, the punishment fitting the crime and not being disproportionate, like killing someone for nicking a loaf of bread.

However hamas launch home made fireworks that are barely weapons, and manage to do little damage, and kill only 4 people even though they fire off a load of these piece of shit home made weapons.

When we were up against the the IRA, we did not do revenge attacks levelling houses and streets, so why should Israel be allowed to overeact ?

Here's a nice little article on the topic

Jew and Arab cross paths.

I think noeone has left the Jews alone since the second world war.

Most of the land originally belonged to the Israelis anyway, but due to us, and Bill Clinton, it is now the turmoil it is, trying to make Arabs AND Jews happy never works.

Actually, we used to own palestine, but israeli terrorists bombed us a lot and killed our soldiers and we got the fuck out, leaving the arab land, to the israeli terrorist newcomers who had decided that palestine was their ancestral homeland israel.

I think its shocking we let them get away with this shit, even if it is useful for us to have a country on our side in the middle east, and america needs jewish votes each time there is an election.

They could at least be a bit subtle about it. Killing 350 palestinians for the deaths of 4 israelis, is not subtle, its an over reaction.

Hamas are an intolerant lot. They were elected and started fighting to the death with the opposition party Fatah. They have been sanctioned by almost every 'decent' nation in the UN.
If the other Arab countries in the region felt they could help why haven't they? Because they know Hamas is an unsafe organisation.
Israel have stopped traffic to the area because Hamas would NOT stop their bloody intifada against Israel.
What started on Saturday should be seen as defence.
Even in the face of total annihilation of their electorate Hamas continue to bite.
They cannot win this war by force. They can only hope to win by reasonable means and negotiation.
The problem with Israel battering this BULLY into submission is that the masses of the region will not easily learn that Hamas promotes an irrational doctrine of extremism. Israel will be seen as being the Devil for defending her borders and people.
Whilst it is the leaders of Gaza who are out of order.

Arafat had even agreed with Israel, before he died, to work towards a peaceful existence for the people of Palestine in Israel. Hamas tore this up when they took Power.

Do not look at this weekend's events to understand it's history.
3000 rocket and mortar attacks is not a firework display. In a military theatre its a barrage.
If someone is throwing 'fireworks' in an attempt to kill my people I may ask them to stop it. I may tell them to stop it. If they ignore the warnings then I will make sure they have nothing left to throw or no-one left to throw fireworks.

Slapping the wrist of Hamas only encourages them.

I don't know what the out come of this recent affair will mean. But for certain Israel will not have bombs on it's doorstep.

Jews suffered at the hands of the nazis, Israel leaned how to oppress a people at the feet of the nazis.
Israel was born a terrorist state and remains a terrorist state.
Palestine for the Palestinians.

Well I believe we heard folk say that whilst the Nazis were murdering people during WW2. Or are you of the faith that say it never happened?

Name some of these terror attacks Israel has been found responsible of.
Defence doesn't really count mind.

Most obvious.

King David Hotel bombing 1946 22 July , where a Jewish group bombed the hotel there killing 91 people injuring 40+...

Menachim Begin who became Israeli prime minister was involved in this operation.

A bit of a cliche nowadays ... but ones mans terrorist being anothers freedom fighter, is always true with these 'foreign' issues.

Look at what that lovely old man Nelson Mandela got up to (he never did renounce violence or express regret for the bombings).

I find it impossible to take sides ... apart from taking your own side.
ie: fu*k whats going on in the world, leave them to it .... and worry about whats going on in your world.

***Warning Metaphor Warning***

The man up river is pishing and shitting in the water you have to drink.
1) Do you buy a filter and drink filtered shitey water.
Or 2) Do you go up river a bit and tell the twat not to do it?

What happens in another country can affect one's country later on when it will be too late to change it.

Is the correct answer:
Buy a really good filter and let those up river all die of Typhoid and dysentery?

No the Jewish terrorists did loads of this kind of stuff, and they became the politicians of Israel.

This period is called

1945-1948: Jewish uprising against British rule

Literally, the guys who were killing illegally, became the guys who were killing with legal backing. The same guys. Admittedly, the original Jewish terrorists are now mostly dead, but they shaped the beliefs of Israel.

Seeing as Israel gets most of it's weapons and aircraft off the USA then they have to do something to keep them in check or they'll get accused of handing weapons over and not caring of the consequences. I admit that bombing Gaza from the sky with jets is somewhat overkill compared to firing homemade rockets with little success into Israel.

If they didn't want any comeback they shouldn't be doing it in the first place, like some Egyption correspondant said tonight on the radio, if you don't want to get bitten, don't pull the Wolf's tail. It's not that different to the incident in Georgia, Russia responded with massive force and put them into place, Israel is doing the same, remember how many civilian Israeli's have died from suicide bombers in the past.

Many Israelis may have died from suicide bombings but even more have died from reprisal strikes..

The thing is when you say don't pull the tail of the wolf, what else are they supposed to do ?.

I had a similar debate with my dad a year or so ago , in that he says the palestinians are nuts using rocks against tanks.

But what else are they supposed to do?> , just sit there and allow their land to be taken ?.

Its the thug anology Hetzer puts , ie a thug knocks on your door and demands your garden , fearing violence you give it to him , next day he knocks on your door demanding more...... what do you do?.

I have a solution though , it is quite simple, take ALL the children out of Israel muslims and Jews , and raise them in the UK for several years.

This allows them to mix and to mingle to get to know each other and understand each other, and realise that they aren't really that different from each other away from all the propaganda,

I'm not saying there are not racial divides and tensions in the UK but its not gotten to the stage where we have gun battles with each other yet has it ?. I school we might have called each other names at worst fists were used very rarely.

Current propaganda tactics (both sides) emphasise dehumanisation of the 'enemy' this happens in ALL conflicts as it makes the foot soldiers more likely to kill the enemy and the citizens to support and hate the enemy.

But you get them to mingle and see things differently, this makes them much likely to question things... ie a Hamas or a Zionist hardliner says kill or do this and that , the teenager (by now) thinks thats not true , I know these people they aren't like that you are a liar.....

Pretty much the same principle as to why you cannot use soldiers in a nearby barracks to massacre your own people.....

As in Beijiing 1989 , the communist government ferried troops from across the country as Beijing has a large military complex a few miles outside the city, but Beijing soldiers killing Beijing citizens? , there is a high chance the soldiers know people in the demonstrations and would be reluctant to open fire..

A very similar thing happened in Scotland about 90 years ago , the local barracks were locked, and English soldiers were called up to supress the rioting and general strike.

This has been tried small scale and it does sort of work but both sides have ineffect isolated this community and exiled them from both societies.

Its not as simple as > they fire mortars and 1-2 people and Israel sends rockets 200-300 dies.

Its the oppresion by Israel and the years of attacks by the Palastians. The government leader Abbas is working with the Americans to bring a resolution but since Hamas are in power they can do what they like.

Israel is not the innocent one either they continue to expand borders, knocking down houses and making there land bigger. So naturally if you are a young kid with all his family blown to bits and he has no home > to want to go and blow himself up in revenge?

Whilst Hamas is in power there will be no Peace I am pretty sure of this. You need leverage from both sides to budge a bit to stop the violence.

The ball is in Israels court, I belive they are making a statement with the use of excessive force. Things will only get worse imo.

Hamas were elected democratically therefore I imagine that they reflect the will of many Palestinians. Hamas are attacking Israel for the continued occupation, oppression, segregation and destruction of their property and land.

I doubt Israel has been playing nicely since it last attacked one of its neighbours.

Bombing the palestinians hasn't stopped the missiles being launched. I'd call it blood thirsty revenge rather than defence, totaly disproportionate and ineffective. Perhaps as Israel are the 'good guys' they should be the ones to sort this out without resorting to mass murder.

I see an argument looming here. This one is defo for F&FWs before the year is oot. Laughing
Israel stopped Hamas from freely killing anyone their bombs and rockets unilaterally do.
Is that not 'sorting' it out without resorting to violence?
Hamas repeatedly refuse to negotiate when invited to. Methinks because they have nothing to bring to the table apart from a historical hatred for the West.

Normally I can see both sides of an argument, sometimes I just choose to take the alternative view just because someones reasoning or argument are dogmatic and restrictive in their views. However when it comes to Hamas and the Palestinians, I say Bomb the bastards off the planet.

Top Neo-Con John Bolton told Fox News yesterday that the conflict in Gaza could lead to a U.S. attack on Iran as the former U.S. ambassador to the UN exploited the crisis to propagandize for a new war

Quote:
“So while our focus obviously is on Gaza right now, this could turn out to be a much larger conflict,” said Bolton, adding that “we’re looking at potentially a multi-front war here.”

“I don’t think there’s anything at this point standing between Iran and nuclear weapons other than the possibility of the use of military force possibly by the United States, possibly by Israel,” added the former ambassador, suggesting that a strike on Iran’s facilities by Israel alone would be risky but could push Iran back by three or four years.

Bolton’s ceaseless fearmongering about Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon contradicts the U.S. intelligence community’s own National Intelligence Estimate, which concluded that Iran abandoned its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and was highly unlikely to develop a nuclear weapon this decade.

Isreal have said they will have peace talks if Hamas stop firing rockets into Isreal. Hamas continue to fire and have called for an uprising. Never have peace in the middle east.

For someone who doesn't believe what the American systems say about WMD, 9/11 etc etc yet you believe ( because it seems to prop up your dogma) what the American National Intelligence says.
And yet you also like the fear mongering.

Very odd.
