Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to use the bike today considering the severe weather warnings for icey conditions... but I did anyway.

Didn't get very far though! The road was really slippery and I could feel the bike moving around even on the straight, just a gentle tip into a 90 degree right hand corner saw the bike fall from underneath me and off I went sliding.
I knew I was coming off so was pretty relaxed when I hit the deck, which meant just a nice bruise and a bit of a scrape on my hip (textile jacket and leather trousers don't zip together Doh! )

Donkey's ok, the engine bars and exhaust now have added 'character' and my new mirror broke off along with the right foot peg. Took me friggin' ages to push the damn thing back home because the road was so slippy I kept losing my footing!

Fortunately, I had help in the form of my friend Jayne who had been following in her car - she was an amuzing sight slipping and sliding around in her stillettos and suit trying to push a dirty bike!! Laughing

How embarrassing! Embarassed

Be careful out there Thumbs Up

Even in suit and stilettos it's good to have a mate to help you (unless it's a bloke), sorry to hear your bad news, and I'm glad you're okay. Thumbs Up

I thought it was a bit icy this morning our way so I took it a bit easier than usual, there were about 3 minor accidents on the way in to work.

It's amazing how one mild week (last week) can lull people, not you Annabella, in to a false sense of security.

There was a bike with a buckled front wheel at Junc 19 (M5) this morning, god knows how that happened?

Sympathy to you and your Donkey, would of loved to of seen a girl pushing a bike in stilettoes (will google later Wink )
Seriously tho, glad there's no real harm done.
I now understand the fair weather riders reasons.
If i could have a car and bike...sorted

Roadcrafter suits 'for the win' (not much longer to put on than a jacket for a one piece suit.)

Oh and it's only embarrassing because you are embarrassed Wink... don't be and it won't be embarrassing!

As I said on facebook, that slide must've knocked hundreds off the value of donkey, if you want me to burn it out for you so you can claim off your insurance, I'll do it.

I think Jayne was more embarrassed by my outburst at a concerned passer-by that I was:
"fine and definitely did NOT need any help picking up the bike or pushing it"

My sympathy. I have a matching bruise from a very similar incident this morning.

I don't think any of the roads in Birmingham were gritted to be honest... it was bad enough driving into work afterwards!
Hope you're not too stiff tomorrow, I have a feeling I shall be Laughing

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I may have a little stiffness in the morning but that is not entirely a bad thing at my age.
There seemed to be no grit at all over my side of Brum Sad

It took me an hour to get dressed! I nearly rang my neighbour to ask her to come round and help Laughing

Disappointingly, there isn't a bruise showing on my hip yet, just some swelling... loads of bruises all down my leg but not on my hip... harrumph!!!

Donkey was an absolute trouper and continued to run whilst sliding an lying down on the road! I didn't fancy even attempting getting back around the corner, it was slippery enough trying to push it let along ride... I'm a wuss, I know!

Probably wise ... but it would have been ironic had you slipped on your behind whilst pushing it!! Very Happy

But all was well!! Thumbs Up

May I ask what bike is Donkey? ... and why Donkey? is it coz he does all the donkey work (commuting etc?) .... or has it got a particularly long and lowly hung exhaust?!?! Laughing
