I usually browse through forums gathering information on whatever topics spark my interest - this time though the userbase on this particular board gave me that extra push needed to actually sign up and participate - so kudos to everyone here
I've attended events such as MotoGP and WSB/BSB for years and I finally purchased my first bike 2 weeks ago. Since i havent yet passed my test or my cbt for that matter, It's obviously a 125 that I'm looking to familiarize (sure thats spelt with an 's' but who am i to argue with google?) myself with while i accumilate the funds to get all my gear and tests done.
Anyway...
It's an 04' Yamaha DT 125 RE - I wont be looking to deristrict it so go easy on the "yadda yadda later DTR's arent as good". I'm a big guy and It's bigger than most 125's so i wont look like a complete idiot riding it - Plus the bike is immaculate, well looked after and was a bargain!
Onto my questions -> The only thing i can see wrong with it is that the Electric Start just will not work. Theres a clicking but nothing else. The bike bump starts VERY EASILY; Literally just a few yards run and it starts instantly. All the lights & indicators work, recharged the battery with an optimiser but no luck. All the connections look ok but i havent had time to give it a really good look over yet as I've been trying to find a service/workshop manual but there just isnt one ANYWHERE!
After hours upon hours of searching i can only find DTR manuals upto 2001 & 2003. To my knowledge they discontinued the DTR in 03' and released the DTRE in 04' aswell as the DTRX. I couldn't use the 03' DTR manuals because the DTRE only has an electric start so the 03' manual wouldnt be any help on that issue.
I did however find a service manual that covers the 05' DTRE & 05' DTRX - does anyone know if the changes are fundamental from the 04' to 05' bikes?
Using the 05' manual i went about how to check the circuits - "use the pocket tester part no# 10xxxxx02xxx020202" - price $250+.
Cheaper to take it to a mechanic. I would like to find a manual or know if i should stick with the 05' manual for future servicing.
I have searched through this topic already.
I'm guessing that it has nothing to do with the spark plug as it bumps so easily and runs fine - I'll check it when i find the time.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Congrats on such a great forum....

the clicking is probably your starter relay, follow a big red wire from your battery which should lead you to it, it will be a metal boxy thing a bit bigger than pool chalk. Its probably either the battery being weak or the relay is sticking/had it. ____________________ 04 NSR 125(sold) ---- 03 CBR 600rr(sold) ----90 pan euro ST1100 ' ' ----02 CG 125

Although you have charged the battery it doesn't mean it's any good ... it make take a charge but may not keep it if the plates are sulph'd up.
It sounds as though your electrics are fine, in other words the alternator is working and supplying juice to the battery which in turn supplies it to the bike.
Check the voltage on your battery ... if it's a good one it should register >13V ... any less and it's probably gubbed.
Also, another person with your problem ...
