I love programs like this and police interceptors, so entertaining watching the stupid ones.

Guy has been seen breaking into the back area of a shop but makes away, police manage to find him, they block his car in and he jumps out and runs away.

He then decides to run through a pub where 2 blokes who are drinking in there gave chase and jump on him, police get there and thank the guys, then start cuffing the bloke.

He then shouts "what's this about" Laughing

It amazes me how often on these programs people do a runner and then try and pretend they don't know what it's about.

I also enjoy them, i see them as my replacement for dire soaps or jeremy kyle bullshit, if the ladies want to watch that then im watching road wars, although as i only have freeview all the sky3 ones are repeats now...

I think they are useful when dealing with the police yourself, you learn their MO.

Some of it is shocking, people setting cars on fire so they can throw bircks at the fire brigade when they arrive who then have to leave and just let the cars burn out.

I really can't see the motivation behind it.

I disagree, whenever they show the american police being a bit heavy handed the narrator always seems to come down on the side of common sense.

I agree with sond, they just throw in the american rubbish for comic relief, whenever its the british cops the narrator is like a british sheriff john bunnel (the w a n k e r from worlds wildest police chases).

He ran, but you cant run from the long arm of the law kind of tripe...

I admire their honesty for implying at least, that they do not catch everyone, and some get hilariously light punishment, and some get really shafted.

The golden rule of getting an easy ride from coppers that I have found, is, do NOT give them mouth, and don't play the bigot and try to undermine why they have stopped you/what they have asked you, listen to what they have to say, and stay cool.

Some police are genuinely alright, and even the jobsworth ones (60-70%) are just the law, which can be cooperated with without need for hassle in a LOT of roadside cases.

I'd agree with that, they got undertaken by a guy last night who then went on to tail gate people at about 100mph so they pulled him.

Copper went nuts, said he was doing him for dangerous driving, guy stayed quiet, copper went to get his book and the guy was skulking about with his head down, apologised and said he was screwed.

Copper let him go because he'd reacted well, if he'd tried to argue his point you know he would've got boned.

I love this kind of show and with a messed up sleeping pattern atm (went to sleep at 4am last night) they are perfect entertainment!

I managed to get away with failure to stop, 'excessive speed' and displaying blue lights back in my days on my GPR. Just need to keep your mouth shut and say the right things at the right time.

BTW Shaun, are you still attempting that 20mins nap thing?

It does work. I can vouch for that from personal experience.

11pm on a residential road. I was clocked by laser doing 49 in a 30.

Was breathalysed and given a firm bollocking. Told if I'm caught by him again I'll get a hefty fine and maximum points.

Luck was on my side that night!

Aye,

Yesterday i noticed my exhaust bracket/clamp had snapped while i was in central london, so i decided to stop doing stoppies and acting a twat and ride gingerly to a garage in north west london on the Harrow Road, anyway coming through a tunnel that goes under the A40 Flyover where i usually absolutely rag it through i was just doing a gentle 50, low and behold a whole division of traffic police at the exit with radar guns, ANPR, the lot.

The guy with the radar flagged me down, i stopped, he said pull in over there (pointed) so i did as told, got off the bike, stood there and waited for him to come over, i said "How can i help you officer", He first asked me how long i had been riding for, which i used as a way to br friendly by explaining my riding career up to this point (see my sig), then he showed me the radar gun at 56 or something in a 40 (baring in mind an uncountable number of times i would have been doing triple digits coming out of that tunnel), I just looked at him sheepishly.

He then looked over the bike, i immediately saw him clock the snapped exhaust bracket and before he had a chance to say anything i said "im actually on my way to the garage to that fixed now" and i was.... He replied "good answer" Laughing.

Anyway he was a Scottish fella and we just talked for a while he dident patronise me, i dident admit anything, im sure while this was going on the volvo behind was checking me out on ANPR, anyway he was a pretty nice bloke, for traffic police anyway Wink

He then asked me if i read MCN, i said i try not to, it being the Sun of bike papers and all, he smiled...

And at the end he said i reckon you were doing double the speed limit but im going to let you go, off you go then. So i said cheers, point taken and left.

Nice one traffic cop guy, while neither points or a bollocking there would have convinced me that 50mph on that road is dangerous the way he handled me leaves me with much more respect for the traffic police than if he had given me points/producers. Thumbs Up

Hi

Tend to avoid watching the shows. Too many idiots they are dealing with an a fair few idiots in uniform.

TheDonUK wrote:

And he is a major reason not to watch them. Some might be amusing without that idiot.

Mind you there was one I caught the end of a few days ago which ended with the condescending presenter coming out with some rubbish about "don't run from the police". This was in reference to some guy who had run when an unmarked police car in a dodgy area curb crawled past him, and he understandably ran away until the copper jumped out and said it was the police at which point he stopped.

All the best

Keith

I can't believe you lot don't like Sheriff John Bunnell (ret). I love his cheesy lines, i love his perma-tan, and i especially love the staged aftermath of crime that is going on behind him whilst he delivers his lines.

I prefer road wars etc because he isn't in it, the voice over doesn't speak like he's talking to a group of 'special' people.

Are these still the repeats they have been showing on sky over and over for the last few months or have a new series started?

I've just watched Road Wars and street wars.

Main reason I love Road Wars is because it's mainly in my areas! Shocked

Wycombe, Slough, Aylesbury, Reading, etc.

Seen them filming outside my club a couple of times but never seen it on tv. Shame. Guess Aylesbury jut isn't hardcore enough for club fights! Laughing

I find it funny when they're chasing some people through roads I know (and have done over double the limit, easily way over triple figures) and then they mention on how the guy is doing 80 and a menace to society. Always give a sheepish look to my friends when we're watching it. Ben tends to laugh!

As for coppers? Can only think off 1 being arsey, and trying to get me for everything (on my 125 and said if I was speeding I would've had my first 3 points... erm not shit sherlock?!) and 2 for being plain dumb. The rest have all been good. Thumbs Up

Like my most recent one. Overtook an unmarked doing about 80 in a 50, then went round a corner at about 105 with my peg grinding. About 5 minutes later they pull me over in Stoke Mandeville. Only one guy gets out and talks to me. Generally nice.

"That road you over took us on *bollocks*, what is the speed limit?"

"Erm, it's a 50 officer"

"How fast do you think you were going?"

"I was paying attention to the road ahead officer" (trying so so hard not to smile Rolling Eyes)

"Little bit of honesty might go a long way here."

"I honestly don't know, I think about 60-65..."

"try 75, in which our camera caught you"

"..."

"Do you have a donor card?"

"No officer"

"Get one!"

"will do officer *looking at the floor half smiling*"

He then mentions that he doens't want to scrape bikers off the road an he knwos what it's all about, "long winding rods and get yer knee down" at which point I look at he holes on my jeans on my right knee Laughing

Nice bloke though. Thumbs Up

All I can say is THANK FUCK I didn't have the apocalyptic can on! Shocked
