Hi, been working on stripping down one my engines. Thought I'd pop over earlier as had a bit of time but didn't have my haynes.

removed the cams but then later at home was reading the haynes and it says to find TDC before removing cams.

I can't see why It should make too much difference until you come to install them. But reading that has got me worried.

Will it be ok?

Regards

You will be fine as long as there is timing marks on the cams and the crank which is pretty much a cert.

It just means all the valves are closed and there is no load on any of the valvesprings pushing the rocker gear up as you unscrew it.

I usually rotate the engine so all the cam lobes are facing away from the followers rather than trying to find TDC.

Can't see as it would make a huge amount of difference in most cases in any rate.
