Get a wire brush ( not to harsh and give it a good fly over then coat your bike in wd 40 or get some good after wash bike protection spray, i have some muc off bike spray which is basically a more expensive wd 40 but its good !, stops all this kind of rubish, if your engine look like this then you probably have salt in other places, give your bike a good wash with pipng hot water, all underneath and all the unlooked places, beacause thats where it usally gets bad and past it in wd 40 a couple of times and you will be Sound !

ACF-50 ftw!

I clean the bike, put this stuff all over the metal parts (apart from brake disc/wheels of course) and then a month later wash it all off to reveal a shiny pristine bike under all the cack that the ACF-50 catches/neutralises. Apparently some people leave it on all winter and don't wash their bikes once... I'm not daring enough to try that. Don't worry about your bike looking like a dumper truck has emptied its load on it, it means this stuff is working. They use it on aircraft and marine applications too. It's supposedly good for up to a year on unexposed parts and safe on electrics etc. I can't recommend it enough. Thumbs Up

What they both said.

ACF50 is your friend, give it a bloody good wash, a wire brushing to remove the corrosion deposits the apply a thin coat of ACF50, if the components looks oily you've put on too much but dont worry if you do, it wont hurt.

Word of warning - DO NOT let ACF50 get onto your brake disks, it WILL NOT burn off like WD40 will, it just stops them working completely untill you de-grease the disk and take the pads out to clean them. Wink

ACF50 is also excellent (unsurprisingly as thats what its sold to do) good for lubricating things like the microswitch on you front brake and sidestand etc.
