Hi there,

Ive got a gilera storm 50cc with a blue polini sponge air filter, Leo vince zx sports exhaust and pm tuning xtech 70cc cylinder kit.

Im getting about 55mph out of it but was told to expect more than this and that my exhaust may be holding me back?

Does anyone know a decent exhaust I could get for my moped for not to big of a price?

Cheers alex

You have been told a load of bullshit. The Leovinci ZX exhausts are as good as any comparable race exhaust for the same kind of money. To be honest any expansion chamber exhaust is as good as any other on most 50/70cc auto's and as long as the aftermarket pipe you use is not restricted to make it legal, then they all improve performance. The difference between the best and worst exhausts for a 70cc twist&go is probably 0.5bhp and 2mph or so, but some fool will tell you that one exhaust is the dogs bollocks and is miles better performing than the one you have. They might also be the same person trying to sell you said new exhaust.

If you have a 70cc kit and are getting 55mph, then if you want more speed i would suggest a gear up kit. Most 70cc kits should take to to a genuine 60mph, so that is probably where if anywhere you should be spending any money.

Couldn't of put it better myself.

You can not gain any more top end than 55mph with standard gearing. Its impossible. Well, Unless you increase the rev limiter on the engine, Which I highly doubt your scooter is reaching its rev limit anyway.

Leo Vince ZX pipe is fine for 50cc and 70cc use. Is it still restricted though?

Just inside the manifold of the exhaust, there is a cone/funnel spot welded into place to reduce noise/power put put on the road.

To remove it simply smash/grind/burn the spot weld off and pull the cone/funnel out.

As Stevo said, Get yourself a gear up kit from Malossi and it will increase your top speed.
You may need to play around with roller weights and clutch springs to get your power delivery right though.

Nice one, I'll try and get hold of one of the gear upping kits, will I need both primary and secondary or is primary fine?

Also are they hard to fit yourself or would I need any special tools?

And what ratio should I be aiming for as I have absolutely no idea?

Cheers,

Alex
