bought a fzr250 a few weeks ago and hvnt used it much due to workin all the time, took it for a gd wee spin and the brakes were pretty naff, there was no reaction until the lever was near the handlebar then it would kick in and not that great.

friend thought it was just because its an old bike (G reg), anyway i took apart one of the front callipers, was covered in shit. took out the brake pads and pressed the pistons back into the calliper and press the brakes to see if any of the pistons were sticking..... well one out of 4 in the right hand calliper worked, so decided to remove the calliper to give it a good clean to try and get the rest of the pistons moving again. after giving it a good clean i reatached the banjo thing to hook it back onto the brake lines. this is where things are going wrong

i reckoned air was going to get in anyway so was prepared to bleed the brakes when i reattached the calliper but when i keep my thumb over the bleed nipple i feel no pressure at all. so decided to work my way up to where the brake line splits into two to see if its getting pressure there, remove the two seperating brake lines and it seems to get pressure when i press the lever and air will squeeze out (with a bit of fluid) then keep my thumb firmly over the hole to draw the fluid in from the resevoir which i can see going down so top it up.

it appears that when the line splits into two it doesnt seem to draw any more fluid from the resevoir.

going to give it another bash tomorrow and just keep trying to bleed the system for a bit longer to see if anything changes.

any ideas what im doing wrong?

also some may be wondering about the other calliper, i havnt don any work on it as it causing a lot of trouble to remove, the two bolts will not budge at all and my wrench's and sockets keep slipping while trying to turn them, any idea's on how to get them free? sprayed some wd40 and some penetrating stuff but no luck so far, since im going over the whole brake system im not fussed bout stuff going on the discs as i will be going over them before i give it a proper test ride.

(any poor spelling or grammer is due to lack of sleep)

So you pressed the pistons back pushing crap into the cylinder and caliper body past the pistons, ? Confused this will almost ALWAYS seize your brakes..unless you just cleaned them.

you need to pop the pistons out and clean them up and the seals, since by the sound of it you have opposed piston calipers you'll need a piston removal tool.
