ive not use my bike much in the last 3 months but it is always hooked up to my optimate charger whilst not in use.

I took the bike up the road for a service the other day and since putting it back in the garage and connecting the charger the amber charging light has remained on constantly for the last week or so.
Normally this light goes out after an hour or two and the green one comes on when the battery is full.

Ive checked my connections, and all seems ok, ive also tried resetting the optimate as sugested on a few other forums and still no difference...the amber light says on
Ive tried starting the bike once and it started first time so all seems ok..but the fact that the green light fails to come on is the issue...does anyone know what this could be?

is the battery on the way out?

not really good at this kind of thing as I'm only learning myself.

Have you put a multi-meter on the battery to check the voltage?
If the voltage is a little low it may just need charging a bit more before your charger turns to top-up mode

Worth a shot if nothing else. I dont have an Optimate so I cant help you there, I just use a Halfords automatic bike / car battery charger.

failing that take the battery off the bike take it to a decent garage and get them to test it.

Sorry I cant be more help to you

All the best

Multimeter wasn't even mentioned other than someone suggesting use one to test voltage.

Sometimes the connections on the optimate seem to be intermitten mine would often go onto desulfate constantly unless i wiggled the connector blocks and it'd then change to charge.

The green light indicates your battery is charged and is holding charge, if it's not going green it could mean your battery is charged but is losing it constantly so is on it's way out. Your optimate might also be buggered, until ur battery stops working I wouldn't worry.
