Had my CBT in kidderminster yesterday.
Explained the loss of my license to the instructors, at least they seemed genuinley quite sorry to hear.
After going through all the basic tuition I was put on a Suzuki GS, which I noted had low pressure in the tyres, an extremely slack chain and alot of freeplay in the clutch lever.
5 minutes of tinkering later and it felt as good as it should, had'nt been service in a while.
Whizzed through the basic training stuff, no problems there.
My instructor was very happy with my abilities so he was wanting to get onto the road as soon as possible, of course we went through the theory in no time and got to it.
Excellent instructor I must say .
On the road I felt a tad twitchy at first, allmost actually overcooking it on a left turn coming out of a T-Junction, quickly learned what the biek had to offer and did'nt actually have a problem sticking TO the speed limits for once .
Spent the best part of the next 4 hours riding around the roads in Kiddy and Worcester, only things I have to watch he said is my line on the roundabout and my speed on them. (We all know what we can attribute that too).
He said I took one roundabout at 40mph which was a little fast for test standards and straightlined another... Apart from that my approach was fine.
U-turns still perfect .
No qualms with my observations or road positioning, the only other point being that on the open roads he said I could have afforded myself more distance behind the vehicles in front, though I was clear on the 2 second rule. (If anything my bad points are just down to ummm... habbits I'm way to used to the excellent breaking on my RVF ).
So yeh all in all its been great, I will be taking my theory as soon as I'm paid and might see if I can rent a CG for a whole month, becuase that would be cool .
So yeh, I'm chuffed... Once again it feels good to be back, and I'm so lucky it was such a great day for it.

You have it bad, I've rented a bike from the club 4 times now, £15 a day if you use it to do a CBT/ instruction... Or take it away for £50 a week.
I doubt they do rent them for a month but I'll see what the good man has to say.

Oh it was great, there was another rounabout down a half mile straight and I keep alternating alternating between the two.
Half the drivers were scared shitless and just waited at the entries and the others just waved and beeped their horns . |

I passed my theory today, although I have to be honest, I was really disapointed with my scores.
44 out of 50 for the multiple choice (The pass mark is 43)
59 out of 75 for the hazard perception (The pass mark is 44)
The first time I did my theory I scored 49/50 and 65/70 so considering I did'nt do a scrap of revision on the highway code I guess I did'nt do too badly.
I just need to book a practical now, the only problem being it's not very likely that I'll be able to rent a bike from my CBT/ further training school like I planned becuase their insurance may not cover rider's with 6 points or more.
I'm going to see if there's anywhere local that can rent a bike, or possibly ask a mate if I can get insurance on his for the test.
If not then I'll be looking at finding a CG for about £300 which I don't really want to do but I'd love owning one |

It doesn't really matter what the scores are for the theory, you still passed.
If you buy a shitter CG for £300 now it's not going to depreciate is it? If you sold it in say April/May when the weather starts to get warm again you may even make a few bob on it. Having the £300 spare is another thing, unless you can make some cutbacks in the weed, wine and women until its sorted
Glad to see your almost back in the saddle. Just don't do anything daft again. |

Just to answer a few questions here haha:
Cutting back on weed, women and booze done, quit weed before christmas... Been skint for ages until now so the later two have'nt been a priority .
Regardless of when I do my test I'm aiming to get my RVF back on the road around April time, I want to chuck a Maxton GP7 rear shock on it before I build it back up to save stripping it down again so I need to allow some budget for that.
It also needs a new top yoke so I'm waiting for a custom Tyga peice, that's right they're making a new product at my request
Apart from that the CG may be feesable.
Oh and thanks.
The NSR was sold and so thats not an option... I'll have to promise that I'll come down your way sometime early summer.
I'm allso still up for that paintballing event (I think) if it happens. |
