As title. I plan to ride over to see a mate of mine in the harts mountains in Germany in the summer, it's only 2-3 days riding to get there so the distance isn't a problem.
But, would this be illegal on a uk prov licence and valid cbt certificate?
What else might there be problems with laws/rules wise?

I /think/ you can get an international driving permit on a provisional licence, my dad told me he did it, but that was about 40 years ago.
Flashing that should be enough to get you out of most situations, however, that's not to say it's actually legal to ride there on a UK provisional!

Not that I do this sort of thing often, but when I wanted to visit a friend in france on a 125cc with my provi, I removed my L plates and rode as if I was a full licence holder. When in Meaux (Near paris) my friend told me that people do tend to get stopped from time to time. I then came up with the idea of going to a police station and reported my wallet missing, possibly stolen. I wasn't going to file a report, but I mentioned that I wouldn't be in the area long so if it was found could they contact me. The wallet contained the usual: Debit/Credit cards, ID, "FULL license" , money etc. I then asked for that branches phone number so I could contact them in the future if need be. This really paid off when I was stopped with my friend and they asked to see my passport/driving license that I don't have...

When questioned I told them I had lost it, but had the VO5, passport, insurance etc separate so I still had them. I then gave them the branch number and the name of the desk clerk who had taken my details. They phoned, it was confirmed, no more was asked. I rode away. Not totally recommended though, I personally thought I just got lucky Razz

Might be a desperate measure if you're not riding legally though. I know a lot of people will slate you if you do, but it's your choice not mine so I'm not going to judge.

Good luck though man, have a good trip if you go.

You can't do it legally, you need to be 18 and hold a full licence, you can't get an International Driving Permit without a full UK licence anyway so it's of no benefit.

You get to see more of the scenery.

A guy on the FS1e forum rode through Germany, Spain and France when he was 16 back in '77.

It's a great read.

Just go for it and sod them. loads of foreigners drive around with no license so why shouldn't a BCFer be any different?

I'd be tempted to just go, too. You need to be 15 to ride a moped in Germany, but it's a written and practical test rather than just a CBT.

Might be worth asking the AA or RAC, and your insurance company. they'd have a better idea.
